| As of Jan .13, 2008, I also cannot sign into my MS Money 2004 database even though I have confirmed that my username and password are correct (by signing into my Hotmail account). This is true even though http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com...orkStatus.aspx no longer mentions this bug (so presumably it is fixed). Furthermore, I cannot simply select "I do not need to use the features that require Microsoft Passport this time". Even if I select it, the "Next" button remains disabled. The only way to enable the button is to enter my username and password, but that then gives me a message that "The password you entered was incorrect. Please try again." Upgrading does not help (I tried it with the MS Money Plus trial version). I cannot convert the .mny file to another format that some other program can read (such as Quicken or GnuCash). In short, taxes are due in 3 days, and since December 27 or so I cannot get into my financial records. Any ideas? Mark |

Don't want to risk the more convoluted fixes in the above article. The following message has just been posted on the Money Network Status site: "Problems signing into older versions of Money When: December 27, 2007 Effect: We are currently investigating a problem where you may have problems signing into Money 2002-2004 (or Money 2002-2004 files that were recently converted to a newer version of Money). Until there is a fix available, you can try the following: ..............If you have not changed your password, sign into Money in "offline" mode. ..............If you changed your password, sign in "offline" mode using your previous (original) password. 1. Once you have successfully signed into your Money file, remove the Windows Live ID from the file, convert the file to a newer version of Money and then re-add the Windows Live ID. 2. If you have already converted your file to newer version, sign into Money in "offline" mode. Change the Windows Live ID (Passport) to the exact same Windows Live ID (using your current password). 3. Sign into Money in "offline" mode and use Money in offline mode until there is a fix available." Looks like we'll have to opt for option 3! |

| I've had this problem as well - started last week. I carried out all the remedial steps, even going so far as uninstalling MS Money 2004, and re-installing, but to no avail. Eventually I've changed the password so it's not a Passport login for MS Money. Strange that this has just apparently started - does anyone have any idea why? -- Andrew Ward "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Andy Gilmore wrote: > > Hi. > > > Im having the same problem. > > > It dosnt matter what I do I cant get MS Money to sign in using my passport. > > Iv also created a new passpart and that cant get me in either.
