STOP the archive attempt. Use your archive file as your current file and destroy the file that Money created after archive. The process does NOT do what you would normally expect it to do. It actually screws up everything. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO ARCHIVE IN MONEY. History is good to have for future reference. I have over 9 years of data on my one current Money file. Reporting can always be set to show you ONLY the time period you want to see. Good luck. Steve |

1. Archive and specify a date.> When I tried to archive all of my data prior to 2004, money created a file > that is bigger than current file. Money makes a copy of your current Money file named Archive......mny 3. Money removes non-investment transactions from the Money file, and tries to adjust the Starting Balance of each account to compensate. 4. Find out what Archiving does. 5. Regret archiving since it did not do what you hoped, and there is no easy way to re-integrate the old data with the continuing file. 6. Relief that your archive file is a copy of your Money file before archiving, and that you can go back to that. All kidding aside, some people like archiving. It seems to fit some sense of order. Trying to make your file significantly smaller is not one of the real accomplishments. However the file will normally get somewhat deflated if you continue with it. |

| I am using Money 2005 (Deluxe). When I tried to archive all of my data prior to 2004, money created a file that is bigger than current file. The current file still had all old data. The arhive file help topic in the help documentation does not explain this discrapency. What is the exact process for archiving old data? Thanks. Raghu/.. |
