As little as possible.

File-> New-> NewFile
Filename: temp
Don'tBackUp (if asked).
Next
Decline-> Yes
check I don't want to use a password for my Money file, and click
Next.

click SkipAccountSetup
click Finish
Help-> AboutMicrosoftMoney.
If it says "Version 14.0.*.1105" where * can be any number, you are
fine. If not, close Money and open it again to make sure you have
"Version 14.0.*.1105"

Then click File, and at the bottom of the list, choose your real
file. You can delete the empty temp.mny file if you like.

If things do not proceed as expected, let us know.

If you are completely computer illiterate, this will be very difficult.

The new file doesn't need anything in specific. Somewhere along the way is a
Cancel Setup choice. It would be fine. You could also just open the Sample
data file stored in the Money folder in Program Files.

The whole secret is to get Money started so you can do an Internet Update
and get all of the bug fixes. The File|Open your real data file.

new file?

Do something similar to, but not the same as
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;889930

In the resolution, create a NEW empty file (named perhaps Temp.mny)
that you put the referenced Passport onto. Restart the computer.

Confirm that Money shows the right version. Then click on your
real Money file that is shown on the bottom of the File menu.

Default Upgrade problem

I've been using the trial version of My money. I just downloaded the full
version. I installed it , ran it, and it downloaded some files and told me
to restart to use all the features. After I restart it goes back to the
trial version. It does this over and over. How do I stop this?
