Yes, I use money in a completely disconnected fashion. I log onto my bank's
website and view my account information side by side with my entries in
money and manually change the status in money for line items that cleared.
Yes, it takes longer, but it's important for me to know my fanancial life is
not sitting on an MSN server somewhere.

Yes.

Some of us find that it works quite well this way. Read posts and you will
probably find more people who use online functions reporting problems with
online functions than people who don't use the online functions. Since there
is NOTHING in M that is uniquely enabled by using the online functions, this
suggests to some of us that doing manual data entry saves problems at no
loss.

Absolutely yes. I and many others do just that.

I enter cheques, direct debits and credits by hand into Money and at the end
of the month do a manual reconcile against a paper statement from the Bank.

After all the posts here about on-line updating problems you want to
persuade him to go on-line? Think again! That decision could be very career
limiting!

Default Using Money as a standalone product.

I know the advantage of banking online, but I have a boss that wants his
secretary to manage his checking account for him, but he doesn't want to do
any online banking. I know the thing to do is to try and convince him that
he should take advantage of all of the online features, but for right now, I
just need to be able to confirm his main question...

Is it possible to maintain a checking account using Microsoft Money
installed on a desktop without connecting online to any banking institutions?

Thanks.
