Worse, the M04 convention of changing the mouse cursor to an arrow with the
MSN butterfly when you are hovering over a link that's web content not local
was utterly abandoned with M05. Apparently we weren't generating enough hits
when we knew where the difference was between Money the personal finance
management app and MSN Money the advertising deliver engine.

Advertisements and marketing links ("Get a great Home Equity Loan", "Great
Car Loan Rates") are splattered all over all editions of M05, even with the
"Settings" for ads turned off. Worse, many of the pages ("Tax Center", etc)
are nothing more or less than MSN Money in disguise, complete with more
ads/marketing links.

Are the advertisements only in the Basic version? I am using the 90 day
demo of Deluxe and plan on buying Deluxe. But I refuse to pay $40 for a
product with ads.

Default What Other Options Do We Have?

I am a long time user of money who has opted out of the M05 upgrade, I agree
with virtually all of Dick Watson's complaints about the forced
connectivity, advertising, etc. What other options do we have? By all
accounts quicken is not much better. There is MoneyDance, which I have not
tried or heard much about. Will Microsoft take notice and reverse the
current trend of Money?
