Default Re: Missing Investments - What Happened?

Don't ask me how I ever deleted them. I don't recall ever doing it to begin
with, much less how I did it.

Yeah, I wish I knew why it happened as well.

Interesting. After hearing your solution, I tried to delete an investment in
one of my accounts that had transactions associated with it. I could not
find a way to do it. Tried Help-delete investment. Couldn't find a way to
do it. Glad I could help, but I wish I could figure out why the problem
occurred in the first place.

Default Re: Missing Investments - What Happened?

Wally,

Thanks for the idea. You aren't going to believe this but I got it. I tried
re-entering the transactions as you recommended, and when I entered the
company name, I got a message saying something to the effect of I had
deleted the account (just the stock, not the entire investment account), but
there are transactions still associated with it, would you like to add it
back. I chose Yes and when I finished the transaction, the account was back.
I then deleted the transaction I just entered, and the account remained with
the original transactions I had entered last year. That said, I just
repeated that for each individual stock. They are all back now and
everything is fine. I am not really sure why they were deleted (or if they
actually were), but that would explain why they were never on the list with
all the other stocks I bought.

I appreciate the help because even though I didn't have to re-enter all the
transactions, if I wouldn't not have followed your advice, I would not have
solved the problem. I would like to know what happened, but if I never find
out, I guess I won't really worry about it. Thanks again,

Chris

It just occurred to me that another thing you might try is deleting the
transactions for the missing investments and re-entering them manually. If
this would mean huge amounts of work, it may not be practical, but if it is
only a few transactions,it might be worth a shot. If you solve the problem,
let me know how with a reply here.

You're right. You might try running the salvage utility on your file. Don't
know if this will help but it's worth a shot. It is described elsewhere in
here.

Wally,

What you said makes sense. That said, I tried to run a performance report. I
chose all dates, but once again, my investments were not there. The has to
be a problem with the file, right? Thanks,

Default RE: Missing Investments - What Happened?

Value reports only show investments that have a position for the date
indicated. There is no date range because they are designed to give the
value of your portfolio at a single point in time.

Performance reports, on the other hand, do have a date range because they
are designed to show how your portfolio has performed over a given time
period. They will only show investments in which you have a position at some
point during that time period. If you select "All Dates" from the custom
date ranges for a performance report, and if you have all accounts and
investments selected, you should see all your investments.

Default Re: Missing Investments - What Happened?

Lyn,

Thanks for the help. A few issues to note though. When I went into the
Customize Report area, there was no date "range" that I saw. All I say was
an "as of" date set to today. Just for kicks, I changed the date to back
last year, but the investments still weren't there. Also, on the Investment
tab under Customize Reports, the investments I cannot find (and this thread
is referring to) are not listed there to check. I think this goes back to
the problem. One last thing is that I never even got to the stage where I
run reports, I just am trying to figure out why the investments aren't in
the portfolio screen when they are in both the Investment Transactions area
as well as the Cash account. Once again, I appreciate the help. Other ideas?

Chris

Default RE: Missing Investments - What Happened?

Chris;
You might try this...when you go to your report screen...go to customize and
see what inclusive dates are being used....I had a similar problem and found
it was out of range...so i changed the dates to be in the range I was looking
for and got all my stocks back...you also might have to check the investments
you want to find in their appropriate box on this screen also.
Hope it helps;
Lyn

Default Missing Investments - What Happened?

Hello,

I am reposting this question because I still cant figure out the answer. I
was hoping maybe someone would know.

Money 2004 Standard

I have been investing for about 6 months now mostly consisting of stocks.
Naturally, I have a lot of stocks I no longer own. The problem I am having
is that older investments are no longer showing in the 'Your Portfolio'
page. I have the option checked to show closed positions. In fact, many of
my sold stocks are there. There are a few, however, that are not. I figured
that something may have happened to my file and the transactions were lost,
but when I went to the individual account's page and the cash account page,
all transactions are there. I also ran the 'Performance by Investment
Account' report and the specific investments are not their either. I thought
that the reason they weren't there is because all transactions, including
the final sale of the stock happened in 2004, but that cant be it, because I
have another stock that I sold out of before the end of the year and that
one is showing up on the 'Your Portfolio' page and the reports. That said, I
am at a loss as to what the problem is. I would appreciate any help. Thanks,

Chris
