| FYI, this is what I got from Microsoft support: I apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing. Please be assured that I will work closely with you on this issue. Recently, we have received similar feedback from other customers pertaining to this issue. After gathering the relevant information, we forwarded the issue to our Product Group for further investigation. Based on our Product Group's feedback, the issue may occur when some critical registry keys for Money were somehow corrupt. I understand that you have tried to remove and reinstall Money 2005. However, the issue still persists. At this point, I suggest we check this issue in a new profile of Windows XP to check if the issue is related to specific system account: For Windows XP Home and Windows XP Pro not in domain =========================================== 1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. 2. Click switch to a Classic View in left panel. 3. Double-click User Accounts. 4. Click Create a new account, click Next and type the name. 5. Choose account type as Computer administrator. 6. Click Create Account. 7. Log off and log on with the new account. For Windows XP Pro in domain ======================= 1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. 2. Click switch to a Classic View in left panel. 3. Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management. 4. Click Local Users and Groups in left panel. 5. Right-click Users in right panel, and then click New User. 6. In User name, type the name as you wish; in Password, you can set as your need. 7. Click Create. 8. Click Groups, right-click administrators, and then click Properties. 9. Click Add, type the account name you created and click OK. 10. Log off and log onto Windows XP with this new account. In the meantime, this issue can also be related to the third party programs. Thus, I suggest we check this issue in Clean Boot mode so that we can eliminate the conflicts of the third party programs: Clean Boot Windows XP ===================== 1. Click Start, and then click Run. 2. In the Open box, type "msconfig" (without the quotation marks), and then click OK. 3. On the Startup tab, click Disable All. 4. On the Services tab, check the box before "Hide All Microsoft Services" and then click Disable All. 5. Click OK. When you are prompted to restart the computer, do so. A dialog box will appear indicating that some changes have been applied to Windows Configurations. Please mark the check box and then cancel this dialog box. 6. Please check if the issue persists in Clean Boot mode. Note: To restore the computer to use a Normal Startup, click Normal Startup on the General tab in the System Configuration Utility, click OK, and then restart the computer. For more information about Windows XP Clean Boot, please refer to the following Knowledge Base article: 310353.KB.EN-US How to Perform a Clean Boot in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/default...B;EN-US;310353 However, if the issue persists after performing the steps above, I will provide further detailed suggestions on how to manually make corrections to the relevant register keys when I receive your feedback. In addition, we can perform a System Restore to roll the system back to the previous point which Money 2005 can work properly. ************ I got it working without the message boxes when I changed profiles, but not when doing a clean boot. /sedmunds "sedmunds" wrote: - quote - > Are you running Windows XP? > "Tiger" wrote: > > nope still doing it > > > "sedmunds" wrote: > > > > I am having the same problem. | Yes, I went to every tab and if it had a default button I clicked it, to include items within the tabes. Since I also went thru and clicked default on everything, my updates aren't working anymore, keeps saying update unseccessful. | Money uses IE intensively to operate - firstly I would check that your IE settings are set to default. If you want to change them away from the default, check money each time, because something might be causing this in those changes. Secondly, if you have somethign which blocks protocol handlers (I think the beta Anti-spyware tool can do this), make sure the money:// protocol isn't blocked. -- Glyn Simpson, Microsoft MVP - Money http://money.mvps.org Check http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny or http://money.mvps.org/faq for UK tips and fixes for MS Money.
