Are you out of disk space?

Seriously, I've been collecting data about as long as you. My file is 55MB.
I'd rather it was 5MB. I live with it.

You can just delete old accounts. It complicates looking at the data in the
future, but you can save a backup on a CD-R or similar. That's essentially
all Archive does for obsolete accounts.

If archiving is not the answer does anyone have any ideas or
preferences how to remove old accounts (ie old credit cards, checking
accounts) and still have the data to "maybe" look at in the future. My
data dates back to 93 when i started with quicken. I'm up to about 16
mb.

Thanks

First of all, when archive works as best as it can possibly work, the
archive file will look exactly like your data file looked before you
started. Archiving doesn't make two disjoint files--one for things before
and one for things after the transaction date. Many people expect it to work
this way. Surprise. Because of this, you need to pay very close attention to
the prompts and make sure you understand which file you are working with.

Second, archiving won't remove many types of transactions when it works as
best as it can possibly work. Many people find it doesn't work even that
well.

Third, archiving causes problems in mangling the starting balance
adjustments for many users. Unlike the above limitations, it probably wasn't
designed to work that way. But it has for several versions now.

Fourth, archiving is a useless waste of time given its design and defect
limitations. Many of us really long time users Just Say No to archiving and
recommend others do the same. Much Pain. No Gain.

Default Archive Problem

Hi. I archived my money 2005 file and the dialog box says Money will
remove transactions earlier than 1/1. Well, the archive file and my "new"
Money file are the same?! No transactions were removed from my data
file. Any ideas??
