Thanks. banking with for about 20 years. I also bank with Compass. I use MSMoney with both. Compass provides free Bill payment using MSMoney, With AmSouth I believe one must maintain $1000 to receive Bill Payment FREE. However, both banks work great with MSMoney. I use FAX and email with both. Perhaps their service depends a little-bit on the Branch you use. With any Organization there will be times when service will not be up to what you expect but I think that in most cases they perform well. |

| Update: Compass cannot do 21st century email; they cannot do 20th century fax (they just tried to fax me a copy of a check twice and failed); they cannot do 19th century telephone too well (they are still trying to credit my account three days later!); and so now I told them to put the cancelled check in the mail for me. So let's see how they handle 18th century technology. Someone rescue me from this incompetent bank. Please tell me there is online banking nirvana someplace. I will open an account in Shangri-La if some will give me the URL! | I am asking for advice. CompassPC has always done a great job of doing transfers and payments but over the years, their service dept. has deteriorated. They close on Sundays and sometimes at 5pm on weekdays. I prefer to email when I have a problem or want to make a change on my account, e.g., changing saving accounts to another product that pays more interest or do research on a payment. Even though it is secure email in CompassPC, the only replies I get from my queries is to call the bank, which involves a maze of options. I press "O" repeatedly to be told that is not a valid option, and then they often tell me to go to the bank. I live in a rural area and I teach so basically, I need to use email, which I can use at work. Using the phone takes me away from my students and it really isn't possible. I have talked to AmSouth and they seem to offer better service and they tell me they can do most things online and that their telephone banking is available 24/7 and anything I cannot do online, I can do on the phone. So I would like to hear from AmSouth users. The irony is I left AmSouth 10 years ago for Compass because AmSouth refused to offer Microsoft online banking, which Compass had. Now AmSouth works with MS Money and offers what I need. Anyone who has a good suggestion -- really, the bank doesn't need to be in Alabama if I am going to interact with it online. Thanks. |
