This pop-up has a check box that one can check, then key in a time interval. I have mine set at 9000 minutes, but the damned thing still insists on updating every half hour if I leave MSM running. It will also update immediately after I start MSM up. It won't give me time to see what the old figures were. |

Money 2002 to 2005, a few weeks ago. I have set this time> many of us have come up with. There is an option to set the time interval > but that doesn't allow a very big number of seconds. I have been struggling with this problrm since I upgraded from interval to 9000 minutes (approximately 4 years), but I still get automatic portfolio updates every few minutes. There is something else controling this, but I can't locate it. Someone is playing games with us on this one! |

| M2005 IS different in exactly this area. Your suggestions won't work as MS have removed that option. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | Well, I have not tested this idea yet, but my plan to solve the problem of Money 2005 automatically updating prices is to remove the stock and mutual fund symbols (e.g., "LLY" for Eli Lilly & Company) from all active accounts. Personally, I only update prices once per month, and doing this task manually with a small number of stocks and mutual funds (as I have done with Money 2004) is not a big problem. I have my stock/mutual funds listed on my MSN home page, and so I only need to view that one website to obtain the information necessary to manually enter the price updates. | Sorry - stopping Money getting out via your firewall is the only way that many of us have come up with. There is an option to set the time interval but that doesn't allow a very big number of seconds. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | I recently switched from Money 2002 to 2005. Now every time I start Money or open the "Portfolio" it automatically updates the quotes (in 2002 it did it only when I requested to). I use a different accounting system where Assets must match Liabilities. So every time I start Money it goes out of balance. This feature alone makes this version of Money unusable for me. Before I revert back to 2002, has anybody found a way to stop this behaviour? I didn't. I am already thinking on the solutions like disabling traffic to data.moneycentral.msn.com (or whatever the quote server is) and enable it only when I really need to update quotes (I do it ONCE per day); however I still did not find a way to make this procedure as easy as a mouseclick. Regards, VV |
