| OK based on what you are telling me I will modify my program to produce a seperate OFX document to initilize the position. I have a friend checking to see if the generated transaction OFX will also work for the latest version of Quicken. If there are no Quicken issues I should have this wrapped up soon. I will post in the news group once I get the code uploaded into code project. Thanks for all of your help. Not that I know of. I have not tried to see if the DTASOF would be> your investment position as of some date in the past that also contains all > of the transactions required to bring your portfolio up to date? > Thanks. of use. You could make a BUY of the right date and make a price. You could try setting the computer clock back and let Money create the AddShares in response to the position data. Something else to watch for: I think if the first that Money hears of a Money Market Fund, in a position in an investment account, is a transaction, I think it becomes a mutual fund. Both are acquired with BUYMF etc. The small deal is you would have to remember to enter $1 as the price if your enter transactions manually. The big deal is that if the MMF is taken to be a mutual fund, each transaction makes a line on schedule D! I could be remembering old info, but watch for it. |

| OK only one part of my conversion program does not work as expected. I can successfully convert the QIF from my broker to a OFX with all of the buy/sell transactions showing up correctly in Money 2005. I cannot figure out how to enter in the mutual fund positions as of 12/31/2004. I am trying to feed an Active Statement into money 2005 that consist of OXF elements <INVTRANLISTand <INVPOSLIST> . The MFBUY,MFSELL transactions date from 1/3/2005 thru 2/5/2005 and are showing up in Money just fine. However, I need to establish the positions that I had in mutual funds prior to 1/3/2005. 1. First thought was to add the appropriate items in the <INVPOSLIST> dated 12/30/2004 but I end up with entries dated 12/30/2004 that have units but no dollar amount and entries dated 2/5/2005 with units and dollar amounts. It looks like Money is adding the positions effective with the statement date <INVSTMTRS> <DTASOF> which is 2/5/2005. 2. The OFX spec implies that you can have multiple <INVSTMTRS> elements in a document (does not say you can't). This way I could have one statement dated 12/31/2004 and another dated 2/5/2005 in the same document. NOPE Money does not like the OFX file in that case. 3. I solved the problem by creating a document that contained only the <INVPOSLIST> entries with a statement date of 12/31/2004 followed by a document that contains the <INVTRANLIST> entries dated 2/5/2005 but I wanted to see if it was possible to do this in one document. So my question. Is it possible to create an Active Statement that can setup your investment position as of some date in the past that also contains all of the transactions required to bring your portfolio up to date? Thanks. |
