| Hi Doug I don't know all the details of the converter, but that could all be correct. I converted Money 2004 Deluxe and as I said...painful, but nothing to the extremes of when I converted from Quicken to Money. | I have done a conversion from Money 2003 to Quicken 2005 XG both Canadian versions. I am currently running them both. The conversion utility that is provided on quicken.com does not work with the Canadian versions of the programs. In order to import the QIF files you must first ensure that category names are no longer than 15 characters, and you must also convert the date format from mmddyear to ddmmyear. If you don't, you lose any transactions that produce an illegal date if the month and day are reversed. I made the adjustment by importing the qif file into Word and then Excel to make the necessary adjustments. It was not an easy process, but it can be done. | Arge, The only data converion file I could find on the Quicken web site is for MS Money 2003 or greater. These later versions permitted the export of a file in a non-defined (not QIF) format that could then be imported through the data conversion utility into Quicken. MS Money 2000 deluxe doesn't have this feature, unfortunately, hence the need to update the MS Money 2000 file to a later version that would then permit me to make the conversion. To update the MS Money 2000 file requires the newer version to be a Cdn version of Money. I have tried to convert my MS Money 2000 file by installing the available US trial versions of Money 2004 and 2005. In both cases, they will not convert the MS 2000 file because of incompatible version "states". | Hi Doug I don't know even being a Canadian Version has anything to do with it or not, but there is an excellent file converter on the Quicken Web Site. Not only did it convert my money file (and yes it wasn't totally clean), but it also cleaned up the corruption on my MsMoney file. That is something Microsoft has not been able to do and I have used their salvage tools close to 1000 times in the past couple years. | Downloaded both MS Money 2004 and 2005 and both refused to convert the MS Money 2000 Deluxe version because of incompatible versions. Will have to see if there was a Canadian trial version available in the past. | If not download a trial, maybe buy one cheap on eBay? If it's cheap enough you won't mind essentially throwing it away. Consider it a conversion utility. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL "Doug Dubowski" <ddubowski[at]rogers.com> wrote in message news:bt-dnQOOS_gkdZvfRVn-1g[at]rogers.com... - quote - > I took the plunge and purchased Quicken XG 2005. | I took the plunge and purchased Quicken XG 2005. Microsoft hasn't released a deluxe version for the Canadian market in over five years. However, I have found it nigh impossible to convert my MS Money 2000 Deluxe files to Quicken. I tried QIF only to find dates disappearing and having the closing balance for the same account in both programs almost $6000 different. Last hope is to download a trial version of MS Money that will accept Cdn$ and terminology (RRSPs, RESPS etc) and convert my old MS Money 2000 to a newer MS version and then convert those files to Quicken, who appear to have file conversion utilities for MS Money 2003 and beyond. Any idea as to where I can download a Canadian trial verion of MS money 2003 or newer? Thanks, DGD |
