Another caveat and suggestions:

Copy your Money 2004 file to another filename such as Mon05.mny.
If there is a Passport on the file, open the copy with Money 2004
and remove the passport before converting.

Also, it is best to let Money 2005 create an empty file first in
case it is not already version 14.0.*.1105. Then File-> Open
Mon05.mny to start the conversion. You can add a DIFFERENT
Passport to that file if you like, but I would not have the same
Passport on both files.

Yes.

You can have both 2004 and 2005 on your computer at the same time,
installed into different folders. You can have them open, one at a
time.

Tell Money 2005 to not uninstall the previous version.

The only caveat is the last-installed is set up with the file
associations, so when you download an OFX or QIF, the last
installed gets fed the file. To feed the file to both, save the
file to disk, and do File-> Import to both. Just clicking a link
sends the file to the last-installed. You could manually adjust
the associations, or could reinstall 2004 to reset the
associations.

Yes.

They must be installed in separate folders.

The last one installed will own the file types.

You can work around this with shortcuts to the non-preferred application
specifying the data file appropriate to that version.

Downloading to both versions could be complicated.

Yes you can. You should install 2005 in a different directory to 2004.
Downloads direct from your bank will go to the newer version by default.
When you run Money, you need to make sure you open the correct file with the
correct version - ie don't double-click the files (as they'll open in 2005),
but open Money and choose the file.

You can't run both simultaneously though, as MOney will complain saying it's
already running.

Default Can multiple versions of Money coexist on a PC?

I'm running Money 2004 but have a copy of M 2005 someone
gave me. WIth all I've read here I don't want to replace M 2004
with M 2005. I'd like to run them in parallel until I see if I
prefer the newer version, based on all I've read here.

Is it possible to install M 2005 on a machine with M 2004 and
have them run separately?
