| I was thinking that there may be an update for Money 2005. But without having a Money file open, I could not update. I looked online at the Money support site and found no mention of an update nor was I able to find a way to update the software from the open file screen. Did I miss something?? There should definitely be an update function without having a money file open. I had to create a fake company file just to get the program open to update it. This really didn't take long, but why should I have to go through the trouble. MS should have included a way to get web updates without opening a money file. Thanks for the information though. After creating the fake company file and opening it, I was prompted to update. My files now work... Thanks! | A "patch" has been issued for M2005 that necessitates a further conversion of your file from M2005 to a later build of M2005. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | I have been using MS Money for several years. I just upgraded to a new PC and am having problems opening my Money 2005 Files. My old system had Win XP Pro SP2 on it and I have no problem accessing or opening my Money file on that system. My new system has Win XP Media Center 2005 on it. I installed Money 2005 SB and copied my Money file to several different media types (cd, usb mem key, usb hard drive) to transfer it to the new system. None of which will open. They all open on the old system though. When I try to open the files on the MCE2005 system I get prompted to upgrade my money file to work with Money 2005. Then it asks if I want to convert the file to a new file and money will back up the file. Well why does it want to convert a file that was already used and created in Money 2005 to start with. If I click next, I get an error that says the file may be write protected, but its not. I checked the file properties. I copied it from the old system right to the new system and place it on the desktop. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Money to no avail. I even tried to restore the backup file, and I get the same errors. I am at a loss… I am not sure what to try next. If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to get my paperwork together for my taxes. Please either post a response or email me: danny927 ”remove quote”[at]comcast.net Thank you! |
