If you get that error, it normally signifies corruption in the file. I used
to use a Zip drive and got this error once too often and decided against
using that medium as my data backup.

You can fix some corruption with the repair option (Tools-> Repair)

I resolved the problem by deleting the previous money.mny file and backup
files on the hard disk. Then I opened a new program file and immediately
restored from the zip disk backup. Now it allows me to enter transactions
while previous account totals are verified as correct (compared with
previously documented balances).

I do not understand why there had been a problem with entering transactions
before but it seems to have been resolved. Thanks for your response,
anyway.

The file was read from a zip disk and then restored to replace the existing
file with the same name. That seemed simple enough but the result was
disappointing.

So why would this be a read only file? There were no other error messages.
Only "cannot enter this transaction" appeared for two different accounts I
tried to update.

Not sure how the file was restored, if it was read only on the disk (burned
to a cd) it may retain it's attribute when pasted to hard drive. Money would
not be able to add transactions to a Read Only file.

Just a thought, probably a shot in the dark.....

Default Restored from backup -transactions glitch?

I restored my Money 2004 file from a removeable disk backup. However, after
completing this, I cannot enter transactions. I get the error message
"cannot enter this transaction" (for both the check register and for cash
expenses).

What has happened and how do I correct it?
