Cool.

I used a text editor that can handle binary files: Intel Aedit. I
had not run into the "Hexadecimal Signature" term before, but it was
the only interpretation that I could think of.

I made a test, the software found one of both files!
That's look good, THANKS A LOT
Tomorrow, I'll try to open the file with MS Money... I'll tell you the
result...

Just for information: how did you make to find these informations
("Hexadecimal Signature" and "Offset" values)?

Have a nice day,

I don't know about Money 98, but Money 2000 and later have
4D 53 49 53 41 4D 20 44
at offset 4.

Default help: "Hexadecimal Signature" and "Offset" values of a Money file?

Hello
I would like recovery two Microsoft Money files:
"Money Backup.mny"
"Money Backup2.mny"
made with Money98.

The Hard Drive (where are the files) has a problem (), thus I have to do a
"RawRecovery" via "Easy Recovery Pro" software from Ontrack.
PROBLEM: Microsoft Money files are not included in this software!
To add these files in the "RawRecovery", I have to enter four informations:
- SIGNATURE: "the signature in hexadecimal format with a maximum of 8
bytes".
- OFFSET: "the signature offset should be zero relative and less than 512
bytes".
- DESCRIPTION: I don't think that is so important(?).
- EXTENSION: I know that, it's ".mny".

How can I obtain "SIGNATURE" and "OFFSET" of a generic Microsoft Money file?
Could you give me these informations?

Thanks a lot for your help
chris
