Default RE: Advanced budget changed my expense amounts in February

Thank you so much for your reply. I was very frustrated with the
Autobudgeting function and your answer was an easy fix. I can't imagine who
would use that function but now I can continue to use Money 2005 as I had
planned. It's hard to believe so little is written about the Autobudget
function in the User Manual and Software Help Topics.

Thanks again!

Leave it to the "brain trust" at Microsoft Money to dream up this one for the
budget. Of course it's STUPID. My suggestion is stop trying to make the budget
mean anything much in Microsoft Money. The program has many bugs and has had
those bugs for years. Don't waste YOUR time trying to "fix" it because it is
just not worth it. A budget to me should be FIXED for the year. You PLAN based
on the budget, but if your plan changes, then you update with a new FORECAST.
That's how I manage, and believe me, it is not in the Money budget. Good luck.

An easy way to get around this is to enter a custom amount in your budget
rather than a recurring amount. On the edit your budget screen, you have the
choice between recurring (single amount, same each month) and custom (allows
you to enter a different amount for each month). If you use custom (you can
enter the same amount for each month or different amounts), Money won't
adjust the amount in Feb.

Default Advanced budget changed my expense amounts in February

Hi,

It took me most of the month of January to tweak out my budgeted expenses in
the Advanced Budget, only to find that on February 1st is reduced all the
amounts by varying small amount of dollars and cents. Is this because
February has only 28 days? Over 90% of my expenses are set up as "monthly"
expenses because they don't change month over month, regardless of how many
days there are in the month.

Anyone have any idea on how to fix this? I tried editing the budget but all
the amounts are as they should be in there, then I click "Finish" after
editing the budget, but all the amounts show up all messed up again. <sigh
Here's 2 examples: Home expenses is set to $800 monthly in the budget,
shows up as $735.93 in the February budget.
Another expense item set to $400 monthly, shows up as $367.97 for February.

Hope someone can help.
