That's correct. If you only enabled Bill Pay services, you'll only be able
to send electronic payments. Since you did not enable "updates" you won't
get statements (transactions or balance updates).

ok, I think I got it...

I merged the manual checking account I was using into the bill-pay account
that was created when I established online services with my bank (BB&T)....

it works fine now...

just 1 more question....

since I said 'no updates' to the online checking bill pay account.....the
bank balance that was established (not the ending balance) will not get
updated...is that correct?

What you can do is to use the Merge Accounts feature to merge the newly
created "online update and bill pay enabled" account with your existing
account. Then you can talk with your bank to see if they can talk to your
bank about only making it bill pay enabled.

If (and once) the bank does this, Money will get notification of the service
changes and allow you to modify the online services for that account. The
problem may be in that the bank may not be able to disable 'just' the
statement download portion of the service and allow you to still do bill
pay.

thanx for the reply...maybe I didn't explain it correctly...

I did enable online services with my bank...BB&T....

but, when I did that, it create another checking account that had the banks
balance in it....so, I had 2 checking accounts....how do I make the checking
account I was using manually, be able to do bill pay only.....

when I went to online services, it stated that BB&T was enabled for online
updates (which I don't want) and bill pay.....

I guess my question is how do I merge the 2 and continue to keep my own
balance so I can balance the account manually when the staements arrive...

thanx,
Greg

Banks that support "Direct" (OFX) connectivity with Money typically provide
two possible services:'
1. Statements (i.e. get the cleared transactions from the bank)
2. Bill Pay (use the bank's bill pay service to pay bills).

So, if you've confirmed with your bank that they offer these services with
Money, you can simply enable online service in the account you were manually
entering and this will allow you to download statements and/or pay bill from
that account. If your bank does offer their own bill pay service that will
work with Money, you might want to cancel the MSN Bill Pay service so that
you are not paying for both and/or get confused over which bill pay service
you are using.

If your bank does NOT offer Bill Pay within Money, then you could "merge"
your MSN Bill pay account into manually created account if (and only if) you
first enable statement download for that account, since you can only merge
the MSN Bill Pay account with an "online enabled" account.

Default Banking with Bill Pay only

question....I have been using Money 2005 and have been using MSN Billpay
manually thur the website and submitting when bills are paid then manually
entering the payments into Money 2005.....

what I want to do is use the bank's online service utilizing bill pay
only....within Money 2005...having Money send the payment info to the bank
and having it recorded in Money 2005....

so this is what I've done....I started my online service with my bank
(BB&T)....but when I did that, it created a seperate checking account with
the banks balance on it....what I want to do is simple just send payment info
to BB&T and not receive any transactions from BB&T and use the checking
account I already had setup and was using manually...

any ideas on how to do this?
thanx,
Greg
