| Is there any risk with continuing to use the file When money loads, "Looking for upcoming bills" is presented in the message box then the "the operation cannot be performed" is displayed. I recall modifying the "Bills & Deposits List" and then closing the application as being the last activity I performed in money before the message above is displayed. I'm not having any other problems at this time. The data looks good. What do you recommend? Deleting all recurring bills in that workflow - or walking through the laborious activity of QIF export/import? Thanks Steve "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:1anqv0t5fr4jdkve5r31v4l6fp8kfef2eb[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Steve wrote: > > > Cal - you mention some tips for doing a QIF import/export. If you want to do the QIF export/import, I would follow the steps> or do you have a link that you wouldn't mind sharing? in http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;178830 except in the first step 4, I would suggest this: start the name of the QIF file for the investment accounts with an underscore (_), and start the name of QIF files for the cash accounts associated with the investments with a letter. Thus you might have _BrownInvestment.qif and BrownInvestmentCash.qif. This would cause the investment account to be processed prior to the associated cash account. When the BrownInvestment got created, you would specify that you want to track the cash transactions. Then specify that the cash transactions account for BrownInvestment was where the BrownInvestmentCash.qif transactions get sent. Then File-> Import ALL AT ONCE using Ctrl+<click> to select files. Specify "New or Recovered" account when asked. Of course you will use a different filename for the new file, and you will have both versions to choose from when done. I would also set up the backups to make sure they are using different names. |

| Hi Cal - by running the commands in sequence money needs to be closed after msmoney.exe -s is executed. Once this is completed salv.exe was ran at both levels generating the same results in the view log: "No broken records in the original file." Cal - you mention some tips for doing a QIF import/export. What are these, or do you have a link that you wouldn't mind sharing? Thanks! | Thanks for the link. I also came across this helpful link: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;274584 Unfortunately, the problem remains. There does not seem to be any impact to the data. The only problem is that when starting the money application a message box is displayed with the text, ""the operation cannot be performed". At this time, there is no impact to the data. These commands were ran against the file but did not resolve the problem (the message box continues to be displayed). 1. Msmoney.exe -s 2. salv.exe Do I need to export/import my accounts into a new money file? Since the impact from the problem is annoyance and upon startup, I'm hesitant on spending the time to export/import all my investment and accounts into a new file - unless the risk is high that the file is more susceptible to further problems. Any ideas? | See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=104. I'm betting the password thing is only coincidental. | I forgot to mention that i'm still able to access the data. Also - I'm wrong below - it doesn't matter what password I enter the message below still appears. Also - this password was established back when I started w/ money in '98. So the Login Lockbox feature did not exist back then. I also tried creating a new password, but this had no effect. I'm concerned the file is corrupt and more disconcerning is that I don't know how to fix the problem - any ideas?
