| You're right, the interface doesn't help, but in addition I notice a significant difference in speed depending on the size of the datafile. -- Michael Gordon MVP "Glenn B." <pkguy323[at]gmail.com> wrote in message news:1106105016.586481.207200[at]f14g2000cwb.googlegroups.com... - quote - > Heck, my MBF is only 14MB and it's slow on M2005, 2004, 2003 & 2002. > It's not your file that's slow, it is the interface and nothing will > speed it up until MS revamps the engine driving Money. > GB > Dick Watson wrote: > > That sounds a lot more typical for a file with ten years of data. > Mine's in > > that ballpark. > > > As to running slowly and maxing out processor usage, those, sadly, > are also > > fairly typical. However the transactions that you do download will be directly from your financial institutions without the data being handled by Microsoft or Yodlee. There may be some speed increase too. It still will not be nearly as fast as your old Quicken or Money 97. But it will download transactions from the better FIs and fetch quotes. Some people have reported that including fewer account in the budget can speed things some. |

| Hmm If the slowness is typical I might just revert to my 7 year old copy of Quicken!! Is still working fine though a hack needs to be done now when reinstalling to 'register' it, just thought it would be nice to do the upgrade to a 'modern' product. Also not too sure about Money or Quicken's online integration. Paranoid maybe but I like to know exactly what is going back and forth!! | Heck, my MBF is only 14MB and it's slow on M2005, 2004, 2003 & 2002. It's not your file that's slow, it is the interface and nothing will speed it up until MS revamps the engine driving Money. | That sounds a lot more typical for a file with ten years of data. Mine's in that ballpark. As to running slowly and maxing out processor usage, those, sadly, are also fairly typical. Unfortunately the obvious things to do in earlier versions to speed it up are pre-done in M05 since they removed the features. | Thanks Cal that got the size down to 47MB a big improvement though a lot bigger than the Quicken 10MB Money is also still running slowly and maxing out processor usage, anything I should look for in that regard? | wow! that's huge!!! if you can open the file, then close it (after perhaps doing something in it), the file should reduce in size... Maybe run a repair on the file too, that might help sort it out. It should, over time reduce but obviously if it is really slow to open then this might take a while -- Glyn Simpson, Microsoft MVP - Money http://money.mvps.org Check http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny or http://money.mvps.org/faq for UK tips and fixes for MS Money. That may well get things to a more reasonable size, and it won't hurt. After that it may well still compress on its own later. Compressing is not something that you control, but it happens every so often. |

| Hi Have been using Quicken V8 for a lot of years say 10+!! Thought it was about time to update and as Quicken doesn't support upgrades from my version to the current one thought I may as well change to Money 2005 Deluxe. The only way to bring all my old data across was by exporting it to '.qif' files and importing it into Money. Well I have just finished doing this and the resultant Money file is 444MB and the program is understandably running VERY SLOWLY. The quicken data file is 10MB.... Is there a way to compress it or is a huge file size for money normal? perplexed |
