Default Re: Upgrading from Deluxe to Standard

You will lose forecast cash flow. It's been removed from 05 Standard. See
http://umpmfaq.info/Money2005.htm for the results of my M05 due diligence.
Do your own. The NG is a good place to start.

Default RE: Upgrading from Deluxe to Standard

You will lose your cash flow and will have many problems. I almost promise
you. Read through this site for the problems most of us have had. I just
uninstalled 2005 and went to my old one. Don't upgrade, please.

I visited Amazon.com to read their customer's comments. Most have had
problems. Go to this site to read them: I just visited Amazon's website to
read how their customers rated Money 2005. It appears most hate it. Check
this LINK to read some of them:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/cus...DER&s=software

Here is a cut and paste of just one of them:

Worst piece of crap ever from Microsoft...., January 5, 2005
Reviewer: Joe Gohlke - See all my reviews

This is my first ever review. I've never been so compelled to write a
review. This product is the absolute worst piece of crap to ever come from
Microsoft and they really know how to make some terrible software. I've been
a long time user of MS Money (version 2000) and also use electronic banking.
I have several years of experience with an earlier version of this product. I
cannot agree more with the other reviewers. DO NOT UPGRADE if you don't have
to....and if you have to, think about using another product.

The conversion of the data from the previous version went very poorly. When
I tried to connect to the bank, it created a duplicate account, then when I
"merged" the duplicate accounts, the math got all screwed up and Money
reported a balance that was way higher than my real balance with no obvious
way to fix it. You would think they could put some programmers on the project
that could do basic math. I'm thinking the ability to balance a checkbook
would be a handy skill too!

I fought with this for several hours, called Microsoft (nobody in support
speaks English very well!) and they were either unhelpful or "having computer
problems, please call back in 20 mins"....Desperate for help, I called my
bank's support line and they gave me some tips to try. I kept creating new
Money files and re-importing, then trying new things until I figured out the
right combination of buttons to press and in what order....There's a million
ways to do it wrong...

During the upgrade, Money talks to the bank and upgrades your account. This
eliminates backwards compatibility for earlier versions....once you move
forward you can't go back. My bank is telling me that Microsoft has
desupported Money 2000 and Money 2001 effective sometime in Feb 2005. If you
bank electronically with either of these older versions, you'll have to
upgrade soon.

For me, the last straw, was the Passport account keeping all my financial
records on a Microsoft server. I would have never agreed to that had it been
clearly spelled out. I really felt tricked and because the data is so
personal, very violated. At this point, Bill Gates owes me a look at his
checkbook! It is possible to say no, but not very intuitive.

Stay away from this product. It's awful. It's borderline criminal....

I think we all should be forewarned about Money 2005 with these first hand
comments. I found similar comments directly from Microsoft's own public forum.
