Brucefl,
Do you use the essential version or the advanced version?

The URL below leads to a well known FAQ that covers most versions of Money.

I believe it's maintainer (Dick Watson ) has offered the most concise
statement of Money 2005 issues that I have seen to date.

URL: http://umpmfaq.info/Money2005.htm

It amazes me that some many people buy Money 2005 is spite of the
overwhelming advice (here and other places) not to take that action.

Best Luck to You.

IMHO if you do not store your data on MS servers and don't download from
your FI via Yodlee, then M2005 is not much worse or better than other
versions. YMMV.

If you are coming from nothing, M05 may not be so bad. I do not download
transaction data, and I didn't notice any new bugs during my trial--they did
fix at least one that had been around for several versions, but left quite a
few others--and I only noticed a critical few things that broke my ways of
using it. I did, however, decide it was fundamentally evil for lots of
reasons beyond product quality and in the domain of a fundamental conception
of the problems I use the software to solve.

See http://umpmfaq.info/Money2005.htm for the results of my due diligence.
Do your own. This is a good place to start.

I have used money pretty much from its inception. By far have had good luck
with it. Not that it doesn't have its quirks. Money 2005, works pretty much
flawlessly. I did say pretty much. One of my biggest aggravations starting
up the program and it wanting to constantly want to get online. I prefer
(having dsl) to have my computer only online when I am at it.

I've read the same and I'm bothered by bad experiences others have been
having. I just purchases M05 and I was really excited to use it to
streamline things from a financial standpoint, but I'm apprehensive
about it after subscribing to this group. Does anyone have anything good
to say from experience or offer alternatives on what other packages are
useful?

I didn't have any particular issues in my evaluation of it that I thought
were defects. But I still think it's evil. See
http://umpmfaq.info/Money2005.htm if you are curious as to why.

Whilst not denying a lot of people are have BIG issues and getting very
p*ssed off; there are probably an equally large number who are having no
problems at all and therefore aren't posting.

Using automatic downloads and synchronising with MSN Money seem to be the
root of all evil (plus several other issues).

However MS are producing updates that download automatically that address
some of the show stoppers.

If, for example, there exist one million users of Microsoft Money 2005 and
only one percent experience problems, then you'll find ten-thousand
individuals on this forum discussing difficulties. The remaining 99 percent
are unlikely to post success stories.

I upgraded from Money 2004 Premium to 2005 Deluxe, and (so far!) no issues
have arisen.

Default Money 2005 Problems

It amazes me that people are having so many problems with Money 2005. I
installed Money 2005 some months ago after using 2004 and have never had a
problem of any kind at all. I have even had to do a complete reinstal and
still no problems. I am not a computer genius, just an ordinary pc user.
