| The easiest way to include information from last year is to reset the date on your computer, enter the information and then change it back. Don't do this with a trial version and make a backup first. -- Glyn Simpson, Microsoft MVP - Money http://money.mvps.org Check http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny or http://money.mvps.org/faq for UK tips and fixes for MS Money. | Hi Scott, How did you manage to set up Money to calculate the historical payment? My problem is that Money is only allowing me to enter information from this current year, and I want to include loan information from last year. Please can you help? | Thanks Glyn! The transactions in the mortgage account show the principal payment and the dollar values for the various payments are accurate. It's just that the "Splits" button in the mortgage account screen is greyed out. I realized that if I look at the corresponding transaction in my checking account, it has the splits for interest, escrow, etc. It just seems odd to me that I can't view that information while in the Mortgage account window. Is this normal? |

| The 'loan payment' is a special split category which contains a principal and an interest payment. When downloading, it would be better to match transactions the downloaded ransactions against these, rather than remove the Money payments. By deleting the original ones, you may have deleted the split information - this can be verified by looking at the mortgage account and seeing whether you have any principal payments in it. If not, you can still create these manually by splitting the transaciton and putting in two entries - one as a 'principal transfer:<loan name> ' and the other as 'loan: loan interest' (or whichever category you use for loan interest). -- Glyn Simpson, Microsoft MVP - Money http://money.mvps.org Check http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny or http://money.mvps.org/faq for UK tips and fixes for MS Money. | I have setup a mortgage account and allowed Money to calculate the historical payment. Everything up to the latest payment was correct to the penny. I also downloaded a history of transactions from my checking account, some of which are checks that were payments to the mortgage account. After having the accounts setup, I categorized the payments in the checking account as "Loan Payment: <Morgage name> ". This created a duplicate transaction in the Mortgage account so I deleted the original payments that Money had created and the balances are fine but I can no longer open the individual transactions in the Morgage (Loan) account and see the breakdown of interest, escrow, etc. Is this by design? Does Money still know how much those values are? |
