| Not by way of defending M05, which I will not do, but it should be said that M files have NEVER been backward compatible (or at least not since M98--I'm not so sure about v2 to v1), these limits have always been clearly stated, and Money has always made sure you had a backup path and told you explicitly what it was in all of the recent versions. Unlike WindowsXP installations, Money is file-based. You have complete control over how to go backward based on what you do with one file. It's called File Copy and/or Backup. Other than that, M05 es muy no bueno. "D. | I have purchased every Money upgrade since day one and almost bought '05 as an upgrade from '04. I ended up downloading the trial version and thank goodness I did. It is the worst version ever. I ended up removing it and re-installing '04. Problem is that when I restored my backup file it locked me out and would not accept my old password. I finally figured out that if you rename the backup that '05 made with the .m12 extension to .mny then you can use it with your old password. Thanks MS for making me waste an hour of my day to figure out how to go back to my trusty '04. I will not be purchasing this version. The '05 version is basically yodlee posing as a new version. I can get yodlee for free from my credit union. No thanks. Why does MS play games with peoples' precious money files. It should be easy to go backwards if necessary. What an aggravation! Hopefully the '06 version will be a better attempt at a revision. Here's what I want to see: 1) Rock solid security. I don't want my money files floating out there on the internet. 2) Multi-user logon interface similar to Windows XP. I would like to have a desktop for my wife and one for me. I want to be the administrator and make her a power user. 3) The ability to "go back" similar to the restore feature in Windows XP. I would like to "go back" to a previous point in time if I screw up big. Do you see a trend here? Basically Money should act alot like Windows XP. Imagine that. David |
