There specify it as split with the most expected set of categories and dollars - specify dollar amounts as approximate, Money will calculate it basing on your recent spending. Then when you download the next transaction, it will be either matched automatically to the scheduled bill, or if not, you will do it manually - "change" instead of "accept" and then select the bill from the suggested list; then you will only adjust the amounts, rather than re-specifying the categories every time. | Johnny, Money allows you to set up Categories and Sub-Categories as you see fit and these, naturally, have to be in place before you can allocate expenditure. Assuming you have done that already, you would select your Credit Card Account and, aftrer posting the name of the payee, in this case Walmart, and the amount you click on to the Categories box. There from the list of available options click on Split/Multiple Categories. You then enter the relevant categories and/or sub categories and amounts till the amounts to be assigned are reduced to zero. Click Done and that is that. I hope this helps. | Are you talking about "Split"????? There should be a button at the bottom of the transaction that says Split... or, if you use transaction forms, under the button Options, there's a menu choice Split... Alternately, hit CTRL+s when editing the transaction. You aren't using M05 Essential Register, are you? Even though Most Users Prefer that mode, it probably can't do this. | What I'm looking to do is this: Let's say I walk into Walmart and spend $100 on my credit card. To keep it simple let's say I spend $25 on groceries, $25 on clothes, $25 on hardware and $25 on gas. I currently have a credit card account where I would normally enter a new transaction and put it under the groceries category for $100. Using this method I won't know where each of the $25 is going - just $100 to groceries. Of course I could assign more categories and enter 4 seperate transactions for $25.00 each (this is simple because in my example there is only 4 transactions) but what I would rather do is start a transaction where $100 is coming out of the credit card account and I can split it into the 4 categories at once. So is there a way to let's say have a window pop up where I can just type in $25 to hardware, 25 to food, etc. Kind of like if you do online banking and you have all your payees lined up on the screen and you just input the amounts and hit send - although in MS Money I'm not talking payees; this would be categories where I can just input all the subtransactions at once. Hope you all get what I mean. Sorry if this is confusing. |
