I had this exact same problem with M04 last year. I called MS> The correct balance shows in the register. > The wrong balance when the account is listed under "account listing" on it. What was happening was that there was a transaction that I had deleted but somehow it didn't get fully deleted. (Don't ask me how that works.) In any case, to fix it, what the Tech Support guy had me do was the following: 1) Backup my current file and put it somewhere safe 2) Do File-> Export using Loose QIF of the account in question. 3) Delete the account in questsion 4) Create a new account (to replace the deleted account) 5) Import the account transactions from the QIF file. When I did this, all of the balances started matching. I then had to go through all of the transactions to find the one that was wrong. In my case, it was pretty easy because it was only one transaction that was wrong. So I could figure out what the amount of that transaction was by subtracting what the balance showed from what it was supposed to show and then looking for all transactions with that amount. Once I found the transaction, I deleted it. And that time, the transcation was "fully" deleted so that all of my balances were back to being correct. |

| Before installing M05 to fix **anything**, please do your own due diligence. For the results of mine, see http://umpmfaq.info/Money2005.htm. <shw104[at]usa.net> wrote in message news:1104958528.105305.183570[at]z14g2000cwz.googlegroups.com... - quote - > Would upgrading to the 2005 version of the software help? |

Does Money 2004 register gives different balance when the view is changed to show only unreconciled transactions or in some other way? First, try the simple thing: File-> RepairMoneyFile-> QuickFileRepair Then go to http://support.microsoft.com/default...13&Product=mny - quote - > Anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps. It should if the problem is a hidden transaction as> the program with no luck. You can install the trial without uninstalling Money 2004. - quote - > Thanks for the assistance |

| I am running Microsoft Money 2004 on a PC running Windows 2000. About a month ago, I started noticing a problem with the balance of my checking account that appears on all of the summary screens. The balance is always less than what is should be. I have 4-5 other account which all appear fine. The balance is correct when I look at the detailed listing of the transactions of that account. All of my other accounts, investments, bills, etc are working fine but only problem is the account balance for the one account. All my accounts are correctly downloading statements from the internet. My theorey is somewhere there is a date setting for that account that is a few months ahead of where it needs to be and it is subtracting the future bills out of the balance. This is the only account linked to bills on the system. Anyone have any suggestions? I have tried using the repair feature on the program with no luck. I have also backed up my data and reinstalled the program but no change. Would upgrading to the 2005 version of the software help? Thanks for the assistance |
