Default Re: B of A & 1st Time Account Setup

I do not know how much information you need. The online account setup
when you load MS or run the help file will guide you through the setting
up of the 2 checking accounts, 2 savings and the line of credit account
are well documented.

But in a nut shell,
1) do not give your account an passport password and you will not
accidentally set up the account for use with Yodlee. This will not stop
setting up any account that can directly download.
2) Prior to setting up the account make certain you know how to access
the Bank of America Website to view your account. www.Bankofamerica.com
and be able to login on the left corner of the screen with username,
password, and state.
3) When you manually login (it will require a browswer with at least 128
bit encryption) you will see the ability to look at your checking
account, if you click download it will (at least BOA VA does) ask you
what type of file you want. By checking MS Money it will send you an
OFX file. You want an OFX file over a QIF file as OFX recognizes what
has been previously downloaded an only imports the newer entries. It
also recognizes the file name and associates it with the account that
you have set up.

This finishes the backup information. Next it all depends upon if you
are adding these files to an already existing Money file or creating a
new one.

If it is a new file, (FILE/NEW/New File) you will find that Money
prompts you to create all of the information you need.

If it is an existing file then click (FILE/NEW/Account) or several other
ways to get into the new account wizard. When you enter Bank and it
brings up the list of banks, do not click Bank of America but instead
click the line that says my bank is not included. Follow the directions
at this point to set up the various accounts. Group the accounts
together that use the same username password to get to them on line. If
all 5 accounts are shown when you log in them place them all toether
with the same institution. Using the advanced web settings, you can
enter the address to go to when you click "go to Bank of America
website" so that it will go to your loggin page.

The BoA "All (except CA, WA, ID) has problems through Yodlee. It does
however work for the OFX manual downloads. I know as I have had cases
open on this problem since the earliest release of Money 2005. I now run
a test money file to see if they have fixed it. At this point I would
not recomend that anyone try the Yodlee based automatic system.

Bank of America (California) is the one that people had been having
problems with, so I somehow was thinking that was what you were
using. The All for AZ reportedly works with Yodlee. It the CA with
the problem. So the steps I was describing are not your only
choices.

If you want to use Passport with Yodlee access, it also gives you
the ability to read and change your Money file data from other
computers over a secure web server. If you chose not to use
Passport, your data would be limited to your computer and the BofA
computers, and you would not have the easier automatic access to
your BofA transactions.

Thanks Cal.

Just to clarify the B of A entry I was trying to use was the "All (except,
CA, WA, ID)" (my accounts are in AZ).

So I just started setting up one account using the steps you provided. Now I
am off to search for how to download and import an OFX or QIF file. I believe
B of A will give me that file. At this early stage I think I would prefer
some automation versus the manual entry process.

Thanks again

You can prevent all Yodlee accesses by not putting a (or removing
the) Passport. If you want to use some feature that requires
Passport, you could also not give Money the password/pin that you
use to access BofA(California).

Does BofA(California) provide OFX or QIF transaction download via
website? If so, I would have thought one of the users would have
posted that. Downloading OFX or QIF would be my preference if
available. Entering the transactions manually would be the choice of
some others.

But now to your direct question:

First, consider if you want to remove the Passport from your
account. If so, do so now.

AccountList-> AddANewAccount. Select Banking, then Next.

Click either B or "My bank or brokerage isn't listed". The latter
would cause Money to not even attempt to set up the account for
online access. You could change the institution later. If you select
B, and Bank of America (California), remember to not provide your
password/number.

Set up each account. If you get stuck, post what is confusing you.

Default B of A & 1st Time Account Setup

Greetings - I installed Money 2005 last night only to later read in this
forum about a problem with Money, Yodell and Bank of America. Since this is
my first experience with Money, could someone point me to the step by step
process I need to follow in order to set up my 2 checking, 2 savings and line
of credit accounts held with B of A despite this (hopefully) temporary
problem?
