| I've just made a similar conversion to Mac. Trying 2005 with Virtual PC on a new iMac G5 with 1GB memory. It's remarkably slow, but workable. I save the back up to the virtual C: drive because it does not seem to like saving to the iMac's hard drive as a shared folder. New transactions are not accepted, the backup save fails altogether, and i ran into all kinds of freaky problems with online updates. I'm guessing this has to do with the difference in file system, though i can save directly to the iMac drive from Visio without any trouble. (Supposed to have this capability with VPC.) If you're saving your backup to a zip disk, it might be a good idea to use a PC formatted disk, rather than a Mac formatted disk. Anyone have other ideas for why Mny2005 won't save to a shared folder from Virtual PC? russ "Jim LaBrie" wrote: - quote - > I¹ve recently switched from Windows to the Mac OS. | I've tried many versions of Money in Virtual PCs. Performance can be a killer on any version, unless you set the Virtual PC to share CPU even when minimized (can't remember the setting). Money 2005, i had some problems with and haven't tried it since August. Backups should be fine, so long as you can access the hardware from within the VPC. -- Glyn Simpson, Microsoft MVP - Money http://money.mvps.org Check http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny or http://money.mvps.org/faq for UK tips and fixes for MS Money. | Using MS Money On A Mac Via Virtual PCIt will be interesting to see if anybody bites on this one. My initial reaction is that is would be like watching dry paint discolor over time, given the performance issues Money suffers on bleeding edge fast Wintel boxes. "Jim LaBrie" <jjlabriejr[at]earthlink.net> wrote in message news:BDFF5F28.1333%jjlabriejr[at]earthlink.net... I’ve recently switched from Windows to the Mac OS. However, I far prefer MS Money to Quicken. Does anyone have experience running Money on a Mac via Virtual PC? I’m mostly concerned about back-ups, for which I’ve always used Zip disks. Anyone have any experience, positive or negative, doing this? JL Aptos, CA |
