| The problem is that my car payment does not have a category since it is a "Loan Payment." How do I do the category solution with this special case? -David "Graham" <Graham[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:3807BE9F-9BFB-4E36-AD48-9679361F5836[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Try this: > 1. | Try this: 1. Create a new category like your old one. 2. Create a dummy category that you will never use. For example: "_DummyCategoryDoNotDelete". 3. Do a Tools-> Find and Replace to move all your old categories to the new one. A standard MOVE will not work, that will also move the duplicated budget data. 4. Go to "Bills & Deposits" and make changes to your recurring bill's category to the new one you created. 5. Go to "Categories" and delete your old category. It will ask what to do with the transactions so select your dummy category. You cannot get rid of the bad budget entries (MS a fix please off the Repair Level 2 option!) so your dummy category will be a consolidation of all of thoes. 6. Go to "Categories" and rename your new category with your old category name (unless you like the new one that is). It's a terrible fix for recurring bills, but it works for the double entries in the budget. What is probably happening is that the recurring bill stays in the budget even when your delete the bill. They are hidden records, which is why that dummy category is needed. I cleared out my entire budget this way, unfortunatly if you like to keep a history of budgets then it will be gone. The "sorting" method I stated is usually a good way to determine if those hidden records exist. Now if your already made a payment for this month then you will not have a budgeted value for this month, just keep that in mind. | I don't have multiple car payment bills in the Bills and Deposits section, but they're there in my budget every month in the debt section. The DRP is not causing this since the car loan account is not in the DRP. I do remember accidentally deleting the bill once when I upgraded to 2005 (when I had to get rid of all of the bills from the previous 10 years) and make a new instance of it. I think that's what's causing the issue, but I haven't found a way to eliminate it from the budget. As soon is I double click on one of the two, the screen refreshes and brings me back to the budget screen. Let me know if you figure anything out. -David "Graham" <Graham[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:0CB2E7C5-F00A-4360-8E75-EAD4C2845ED8[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > I feel your pain. | I feel your pain. I believe the DRP causes the same problems as automated bills do, except that you cannot delete the budget entries for them. Your debt section would of been okay if you didn't use the DRP, at least thats what it looks like in my budget. At least it only showed up once (as a special initial payment from the DRP) in my budget so when I get out of this month, the rest look good. Does your loan show every month doubled, or just a single month? If multiple months, go to your bills section and sort by "due date" and then by "category" and if the number of bills is different you have to delete your duplicates. | Hi all, I am having an issue with the Budget Planner. For some reason, my car loan payment is showing up twice under the debt section. I have seen solutions (make a temp category; find and replace; etc) for other items in the budget...specifically bills, but never for a debt payment which is a section you can't delete. I have an account called Car Loan and must have changed the terms at some point or another because it is deducted twice from the budget, even though it is only in Bills and Deposits once. Also, it has been removed from the DRP so its not coming from that. Any help would be appreciated, David |
