| That is possible, as I noted earlier I had not tried it. However I did use the conversion tool offered on the Intuit web site and it converted my Money files. Bob "Al. I don't know. Why not create a new account in Quicken called "test1" and try to import a qif file. You can create one from your "real" checking account or you can use the demo of Jaya123 (see below) to create one for you by go to the Financial page and putting in dates between 2001 and 2005. | Dick, Al Again I don't understand. I again opened Quicken and it allows for export and Import of QIF files, but it does sound like Intuit's way of doing business which is why I left Intuit several years ago. They continually find ways to remove features so that you either have to purchase it from them extra or buy their next higher product such as going from Basic to Deluxe. Of course they threatened for years to no longer support Bill Pay direct years ago trying to force you to use Quicken bill pay. They finally removed it, but because of customer complaints they allowed it with the next release. They added an activation code several years ago, but removed it. In Quickbooks they were charging you as much to download the next years payroll tax table as it would to purchase the new version. I don't know where they stand on that now. They removed the payroll features completely out of the Quickbooks Mac version........ Anyway nothing Intuit does will surprise me, but as of right now on my Quicken Deluxe 2005 it has both the Import and Export feature. Bob "Al. | Maybe it's just import QIF they killed? At any rate, that opens the gates for the OP to migrate to Money by exporting all accounts to QIF and then importing all of that to Money. Lots of stuff will be lost. Like Loan accounts, among other things. | Hi Dick After reading your post I opened Q05 and it still has the export feature in it's "file" drop down. It may not work, but it is still there unless I am missing something on this post. | Oooops: M04 can only convert Q03 and earlier. (M05 converts Q04 and earlier.) "Dick Watson" <littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com> wrote in message news:eIE3%23iD8EHA.3416[at]TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... - quote - > M04 can only convert M03 and earlier. (M05 converts M04 and earlier.) |

| Since Q05 has eliminated QIF export, that's about where you are with a Q05 data file. It's too bad neither of these vendors really care about their customers or their data, otherwise there would probably be better portability of the data. | Thanks to you & Dick for the information. I guess I'm SOL if I want to switch to Money then. I've had it with Q & their abysmal technical support. Oh well... Thanks. | M04 can only convert M03 and earlier. (M05 converts M04 and earlier.) Since M and Q come out at roughly the same time each year, Money can't know the Quicken formats before it releases. M and Q change formats each year for no apparent reason. For this reason, M04 can't know about Q05 format--it was two years in the future. | I have tried to convert Quicken Premier 2005 files in Money 2004 & a trial version of 2005, and continue receiving the following error dialog: "Your Quicken data is contained in several files, and Money could not find all of them; or you are trying..." It continues to inform that all Quicken database files must be in the same directory. All of my Quicken database files do reside in the same directory. I even did a file copy to a clean directory and Money still could not convert them. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks. |
