Default Re: Reconciling Bank Statements

While I don't know if the option you are asking about exists (I am not
aware of it, but would probably prefer it), if you find it does not,
make sure your Money is not set to Reconcile automatically when you
download transactions, and keep making sure.

Mine wasn't, and -I- never changed the setting but it started doing
that and caused no end of grief trying to reconcile to paper statement
starting and ending balances until I noticed the R's in stuff I just
had downloaded at mid month. When that happens, it also lies
about what date it is using for the "opening" balance. It asks for
start of month balance, then tells you it's wrong and it shold b
xxxx.xx, whatever the balance was following the last download
and immediate reconcile. That's just plain screwed up software!
This is Money 2004, maybe 2005 pops up some kind of error
message about the starting date instead of just insisting your
starting balance from the last paper statement is wrong..

If ALL your transactions are downloaded (I might be presumptious
here) there should be nothing to reconcile, right?

Default Reconciling Bank Statements

Former Quicken User trying to make the Switch to Money. In Quicken I
download all my bank transactions (daily), click on each one and accept it,
then click "reconcile," and I am balanced to the penny every day. However,
in Money, when I try to reconcile it still asks me for my paper statement,
and things like the starting/ending balance, etc. In Quicken I had to the
option of reconciling to the paper statment, or chosing the "electronic"
statement or downloaded transactions/balances. Does this feature exist in
Money, or must I still wait for the paper statement at the end of the month?
