Default Re: salvage tool question

Compacting is done every time you backup and it compacts the backup NOT the
..mny file. However at times and for reasons best known to Money it will
decide to compact the .mny file.

salve.exe is a separate utility to be run when you believe you have a
corrupt file. It should not be run as an automatic thing to do when you
close Money. Ditto supersalvage only more so. Early versions of supersalvage
could cause more problems than they fixed.

If you are going to run either utility take a copy of the .mny file first -
just in case....

Default salvage tool question

I am running MS Money Dlx 2002 and have it set to compact the database and
create a backup on my same hard drive each time I close. As referenced in
http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=57, is it correct to assume that the
equivalence of running salvage and supersalvage is automatically done each
time I close the file? Or is this a seperate utility with more improved
compacting ability?

Thanks,
Bob
