Well, the fact that you can still open your MM04 file in MM04 proves that it
hasn't been converted yet. In my case the file was successfully converted
and then MM05 thought it needed to be converted again. I don't think I can
help you any further because you have already gone over the steps I would
have taken. Have you tried calling customer support?

I was able to open their sample file and making the backup file and so on.
I still can't open my '04 money file on Money 2005. I check my mny file is
a not read-only file. I even copy both sample and my 04 file into same
directory to maker sure the folder are not read-only.

When try to convert my 04 file, I still get the same error msg " Money
cannot locate '.......mny' or cannot open it, possibly because it is
read-only file or you do not have permission to change it or your disk drive
is write protected.'

I did uninstalled and reinstall the 05. Tried to open a new file, setup new
account. No problem until I tried reopen my 04 money file. Same msg.

I am able to open my 04 money file in money 2004 with no problem. I don't
have the passport setup in my 04 mny file. Does that matter? Any help?
Please. Thanks, Jaimie

Did you ever get your file to work in Money 2005 at all? I got that message
after uninstalling and reinstalling the application. When I reinstalled MM
2005 and tried to open my file the program said it had to convert it (even
though it already was). The solution was for me to create a new file first,
then go back to my working file. I hope that made sense.

Default Money 2005 can't open my 2004 file

I am trying to upgrade my money file from 2004 deluxe to 2005 deluxe. Both
are US version, but I got the error message after money 05 try to open the
mny file.

Error msg: " Money cannot locate '.......mny' or cannot open it, possibly
because it is read-only file or you do not have permission to change it or
your disk drive is write protected.'

All claim in the error msg are not true. The file was there. It is not read
only file. I am the owner (supervisor) of the computer, and the disk drive
is not write protected!

I used the salvage file located from the CD and tried to repair it but no
use. Any one has the solution? Thanks. Jaimie
