| I wouldn't have called system files "deeply hidden". I can understand, why as a general rule, MS hide OS type files - it's in order to protect naive users from themselves!! -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | I can answer this. In the folder options in Windows you must uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files (Recommmended)". This then allows the deeply hidden M05 files to appear and be accessible. Why hide them like that?? There is a perverse programmer in Seattle who knows. |

| Actually I meant the Event Log. Under W2K do this: Start-> Settings-> Control Panel-> Administrative Tools-> Event Viewer There should be several folders in the left pane. Check them all at the date/time that your problem occured. Best thing to do is repeat the problem, then go directly into the Event Viewer and see what the latest errors are. I don't know what you mean by the location of the Money files. I'm not familiar where Money places files upon install, but it should place your Money datafile under the My Documents directory by default. If your file is somewhere else, try opening Money then before logging in goto File-> Open to open your money file. | One more thing....I loaded Money on another computer (to test only) and copied over the files and had the same results. Machine is similar in specs to this but very bare as far as software (still Win2K, latest patches etc). So it sounds like the problem is in the file for sure.... | I bet you meant the event file after runnig level 2 salvage. It says No broken records in the original file. | The version should be the latest. I opened a new file (it runs fine with new file) and found this version number 14.0.125.1105 I am running Win2K with all latest patches that are pushed, 10G free disk space, 384M Ram, Pent III 933Mhz Compaq. Everything else runs fine on this computer and there are alot of applications on it. No spyware on it. I am logined into my station as administrator I use all the online services that come with Money. I am not sure where the Event Log is. I checked the help system and this website for event log. Can you tell me where that is? BTW I guess it is supposed to be like this, but most of the Money files are in super-hidden folders on my computer that even turning on hidden files does not reveal. I figured this out by tracing the properties of the icon, and then tyoing the folder name in, Is this normal? "Graham" wrote: - quote - > Couple things: > 1. | Couple things: 1. Check you Event Log to see if any errors are being recorded in there. 2. What version are you running? Check under Help-> About if it can stay open long enough. 3. What operating system are you running? 16MB is not that large. Mine is over 40MB. | Hello all, Faithful liscensed user of Money 2005 Premium (and 2004, 2003 and 2002). I really like the program, but in the last few days have been having this problem. When I open my money file, it appears to open, and then it closes right away. I can see my data for like a second, then money shutsdown. No error message. I have run the salvage utility (both levels). I end up restoring from my autobackup and I can work for a while, but then it starts up again with the same action described above. My money file is about 16MB (I am not sure if that is too big?). I use passport login and the let Money update all my info on msn. Any advice? Anything to check? Thanks in advance |
