| I have the same complaint, although the problem continues after Money 2005 loads. Operations require SEVERAL MINUTES--e.g., accepting downloaded transactions, editing transactions, sending electronic payments--nearly every operation takes excessive time and it's very frustrating. It appears that the one difference between JSR's situation and mine is the OS. Mine is Windows XP-Home Edition. Looking for help. | After upgrading from MS Money 2003 to Money 2005 this week I immediately noticed that it takes nearly a minute to load on my machine. During that time the Money 2005 splash page is being displayed along with the hour glass wait symbol and nearly silence from my machine. Its clearly "thinking" about something and isn't having to read off the hard drive much. The 2003 version loaded much faster -- at best about 8 to 10 seconds. I first thought it was the size of my data file so I archived it to reduce its size. It was cut from nearly 18 MB to nearly 9 MB in size but the problem did not abate. I tried creating a new data file with one bank account and no transactions -- a very small data file. And further, a data file that doesn't have to be converted since it was generated by Money 2005. Still, same problem. Its loading very slowly. The complete version of Adobe Photoshop loads faster on this machine! I've also tried uninstalling the old 2003 version, uninstalling 2005 and then reinstalling 2005 to no avail. The machine its running on is a Pentium 4 [at] 1.4 MgHtz with 183 megabytes of free physical RAM prior to loading the program. The hard drive has ample space. The OS is Windows ME and I'm conservative about what programs are running in the background / loading during startup. Any thoughts on how to make this thing operate the way it should? I feel like I'm using my old Atari 800 with cassette player again. |
