Credit Card Payment would be good. (Transfer would be better because it's
normative.) If you can't find it, I'm wondering if one or both of these
accounts are running in Essential mode? If so, you want Advanced. Special
categories are still there.

Yes, I guess you can say that I don't like to type all the transactions out!
Aside from that, I did end up tweaking reports to exclude the Credit
Card payments in the pie-chart. Thanks for that help. The problem with the
credit card payments is that I can't seem to find that category called
"SPECIAL: Credit Card Payment" anywhere. I read the newsgroups and some
help sites but my understanding is that this category was only up to M04 and
not included in 2005. The problem is also that when I pay the credit card
bill it comes up as income and gets included in my monthly budget. This is
what is throwing me off. I can only find the category Xfer from Deleted
Account on there. Are you talking about creating a new category for the
payments? Any help is much appreciated.

This is one i used to help me track my old mortgage
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/te...CT010317261033

I combined it with Moneylink to get out the real figures from Money, and
made some changes to produce the data I want. I suppose the 'closest' thing
to templates would be those at the office online site
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/te...317261033.aspx but as Dick
says, nothing specific

Hopefully you mean "without having to do much typing" since Mv1 could do
this as well, just without all of the download frufrah.

Advanced Reports and Budget allow lots of this latitude. In general, though,
Money, used in Advanced *, as intended, does not treat a credit card payment
as a budget/spending significant event. How are you doing credit card
payments? As a "Transfer" or "Credit Card Payment" (really a "Transfer" in
disguise) with one entry that shows up in both accounts? Or as this
new-fangled expense category "Credit Card Payments/Transfer" with separate
transactions in each account?

There is no template. Money Link, previously cited by Glyn Simpson, will
enable you to get most of your data (there are things it doesn't get and I
have no clue what it does with M05 Essential *) retrieved into a
spreadsheet. From there, you can grind it to dust with analysis. But you are
on your own for the spreadsheet--I'm not aware of any templates geared to
deal with MoneyLink retrieved data.

You can link Money to Excel using Moneylink (available from Ultrasoft
http://www.ultrasoft.com or my downloads page
http://money.mvps.org/downloads).

This will allow you to view your Money data in Excel so you can chart it how
you like.

Default M05 and Excel Charts/Reports

Okay, so after reading some of the posts in this newsgroup I get the
fact that M05 sucks. I wish I had read all that BEFORE I actually installed
the software. Sadly, a while back I had got the software(standard edition)
for free after mail-in-rebate, and this is my first personal finance
manager, so I'm hooked on it. I actually like the fact that I can get all
my bank transactions, credit card transactions in one place etc. I've never
used M04 so I can't compare how bad the 2005 version really is.

That said, I read up on the problem of credit-card payments from your
checking account. I tried to see the monthly reports and the largest
expense is my payments to my credit-cards. Is there no way to delete a
category from the monthly reports and budgets? To just get a good idea of
my expenses is there an Excel template that can take the imported data from
Money and create better Pie Charts etc?
