| The closest you could get to at the moment is to have the Money product living on the home machine, but you have a pocket pc on which you record your expenditure. When you return home, you could synchronize the PPC file with the Money file. | Here is what I really want to do: run Money in a two or three node networked situation. I'm not asking for a cheap finance package for a business, this is personal! Here's the scenario: my wife spends money and I spend money. Sometimes its cash, sometimes its check, maybe online pay, whatever. I work in an office, my wife is at home with the kids. We both need to enter our spending into Money. If its on the home PC, she can do it, but I have to wait until I come home, and since I work on a PC, its the last thing I want to do when I get home. If its on my work laptop, then I can do it, but since she does the bulk of the transactions, it becomes a hassle. Why not a product that allows both? Functionally it would look the same as Money, but the data would be stored centrally. Ideally the software could talk over a VPN. I'm thnking store the data in MSDE or SQL or something. Then when I enter a transaction, that transaction is marked as mine, maybe its in a different color or something. This way, we could both enter our transactions on our own PCs, without issue. I could keep going with how this ought to work, maybe I should develop it myself with all my spare time... |
