I had the same problem of money suddenly not working. When opening Money, it
would get as far as the sign on screen and hang. However the sign on screen
was totally blank except for the Money header at the top.

The problem began when trying to export or import to/from Tax Cut. I don't
remember which direction I was going. I had also just installed Windows XP
service pack 2 and some other windows updates so I don't know if it's (Tax
Cut) a coincidence. I uninstalled and reinstalled Money 2004 several times
to no avail. Then after reading some readme file I found on the Money CD (or
was it a troubleshooting link or error message at runtime or at installation
- sorry) I took a chance and ran the windows cleanup utility on the CD.
Don't belive that worked. Then there were two other utilities on the money cd
for installing "MMC" or MMAD" (or something like that) components. these
came with severe warnings before usage, so I guess u should understand what
you're doing before using them. I took a chance and ran them. Now at this
point I found that I could restart Money if I rebooted my machine. Can't
remember if rebooting failed to correct money before doing the windows
cleanup and component install.

In any event, does rebooting solve your problem? else maybe you should look
into these windows cleanup or component install utilities, but be careful on
the component install ones. I'm a bit wreckless and ran them without totally
understanding whether it was worth the risk of crippling my pc. In any event
check it out. Maybe you can consult the Money Support people. My Money is
working fine now and has hung only once, Incidentally I also had trouble
shutting down my PC when I had Money problems. So I don't know if my PC was
causing problems in Money or vice versa.

After playing around for a little while I found that if I gave myself
Administrator access everything worked fine...but why should it suddenly be
necessary to have Administrator access to use MS Money!?

Since the Money file opens fine when I have Administrator access, I am
inclined to think that the file itself is fine.

Any suggestions / ideas?
