Default Re: How to change "Opening Date" in Investment Accounts

Yes, I am using the business version, I should have been more clear.

What I indicated is correct.

I thought that there may be a way to get to, then change, that date.

FYI, I opened a new account using the 1/1/2002 date, cut and pasted the
transactions from the account that had an opening date of 1/1/2004, then all
worked well.

Those at Microsoft need to get things consistent. Cash accounts give access
to change the Opening Date. Other assets including Investments, one cannot
get to that date.

Thanks Dennis

I did not find and opening date when clicking into the Account
Balances report. I thought this might be an effect from your having
archived at some time. I did a test archive on a copy of a Money
file, but I still did not see an Opening Date indication.

Are you perhaps using the Business version?

Did you archive at some point? Part of why I wondered if archiving
was not somehow tied into this is that you cannot archive investment
accounts.

So I can't reproduce what you are doing.

I was able to get this information from the 12/31/2004 Account Balances
Report by double-clicking on the account balance in the report on the screen;
which causes a pop-up screen to appear which displayed the "Opening Date"
information.

Where do you read the "Opening Date" for investment accounts?

Default How to change "Opening Date" in Investment Accounts

Using Money 2005 Small Business

Wanted to obtain year-end balances of accounts for:
12/31/2004
12/31/2003
12/31/2002

In doing so, I noticed that some accounts did not list
in the reports for 12/31/2003 and 12/31/2002, even though there were balances.

Investigating, I noted that the accounts which did not list had an "Opening
date" of 1/1/2004. (Again, there are transactions in 2002 qnd 2003 in those
accounts). I was able to get this information from the 12/31/2004 Account
Balances Report by double-clicking on the account balance in the report on
the screen; which causes a pop-up screen to appear which displayed the
"Opening Date" information.

For Cash accounts, I can get to "Opening date" in Account settings and make
changes.

For Investment accounts I can not get to "Opening Date" via account settings.

How can I change the "Opening Date" for investment accounts so that the
balances will appear on the Account Balances" report for each year?

TIA Dennis
