I was only suggesting the new file to get the .1101 update. I should
have explicitly said to return to your real file after the QFE has
been successfully applied.

start fresh because of missing transactions and bad balances. I am confused
on which method you used to start a new file. It would be helpful to me for
you to explain in more detail. Thanks.

Thanks for the help. I finally got to where I wanted. I left the old file
in Money 2002 and that is great. The reason I wanted to start a new file was
because the old one had a few gaps of transactions and the account balances
were way off. Besides the file is large. I will copy the budget amounts from
this old file.

After starting a second file in M2005, I was able to use the settings I
wished without using automatic updates or uploading the file to My Money.
The Yoodle download is useless for Bank of America accounts since it does not
truncate the transaction number and the payee is not visible.

I am also able to use the Pocket PC for three of the accounts that are used
the most.

Cal's advise is fine, but if you REALLY want to use Money with its full
capabilities I would suggest you do NOT create a new file. Your historical data
can be very helpful to you in managing your finances in the future. Things like
lifetime planner or cash flow. Also, reexamine what your motivation is for
creating a new separate file in Money. Most likely, creating a new file will
not benefit you. And once you do it, you cannot bring the two files back
together again. JMHO. Steve

There are a few ways.

One way is to leave Money 2002 installed when you install Money
2005. Have Money 2005 create a new file. Then each would remember
the file it was working with.

Another way is to let Money 2005 convert the Money 2002 file. Then
do File-> New-> NewFile to create another Money file. In fact, it is
best to let Money create a new file first, and let it update itself
via Internet before doing the conversion.

If you are in Money 2005, you can switch between files easily with
the File menu. At the bottom of that menu is the most-recently-used
list of files.

Default Using two Money files

Getting ready to upgrade to Money 2005 and have about 6 years of data in
Money 2002. I want to start a brand new Money 2005 file starting any day of
this month but want to be able to access the old large file.

Do I install Money 2005 with the old file in place or do I start the new
file after uninstalling Money 2002? How can I access both files?

I also plan to synchronize the new M2005 file with Pocket PC.
