| Cal- Thanks for the reply.. I went to that URL and I too saw it was secure (saw the lock)and was then redirected to the AMEX site. I'm still not making a connection with AMEX... any other ideas? -AC "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, AC wrote: > > > Any chance it could be a connectivity issue? | Ed- Thanks for the reply. Yes, I can login to the website just fine. I've also double checked my userID I used on Money and it's the same as what I use on the website. I even "broke" the online setup for AMEX and re-set it up... no difference. Any chance it could be a connectivity issue? Other accounts & banking institutions download just fine, but I'm wondering if there's a detailed log that shows some more detailed errors... maybe AMEX wants to resolve my requesting IP but can't because I'm masked using NAT & my router won't respond to reverse DNS requests... stuff like that? -AC "Ed Hansberry, MS-MVP/Mobile Devices" wrote: - quote - > "AC" <AC[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > > No luck for me... still won't download and gives the same error. Did you go into the account online setup and use the same userid there> having trouble/success with AMEX? that you use for the web? Can you log into the website? If you can't do the latter, I'd say you need to call Amex and clear that up. Then Money will probably work too. -- _______________________ Ed H. |

| I had the same problem (beginning a day or two ago). I went into Money and noticed that there was an odd user name for my Amex account. This must have been supplied years ago. When changing the name to my web ID, the download worked fine. Apparently Amex has stopped supporting the old name when called by financial software. | I hope that wasn't the root of the problem, because that's how I setup my accounts when I first got Money 2004 last year. I didn't try to download last night/this AM... hoping it works tonight/weekend. Will post results regardless. -AC "Ed Hansberry, MS-MVP/Mobile Devices" wrote: - quote - > "Michael Gordon, MVP" <gordonm[at]denison.edu> wrote: > > I also was getting bad password reports; so I replaced the username that > > Money was using (which I got from Amex years ago) with the username I use at > > the Amex website. Good call Michael. I had forgotten all about that. I put that number> Money was using (which I got from Amex years ago) with the username I use at > the Amex website. It now works. in Money in 1999. If you hadn't said anything it never would have occurred to me to try my web userID. Works like a charm. I guess the error Money was giving (bad username/password) was right after all. <G-- _______________________ Ed H. |

| I also was getting bad password reports; so I replaced the username that Money was using (which I got from Amex years ago) with the username I use at the Amex website. | Thanks for all the replies guys. I have been downloading OFX files manually into Money for the last month. Hope the sync works tonight/in the next few days! | Ed (from PocketPCThoughts) and AC, I checked Amex this morning--it is fixed when trying to download .ofx via the web. So, I'm assuming via Money it should also be fixed. I'll check tonight. | Suddently Money 2004 Premium w/ Update 1 won't download any of my American Express account information (cards or brokerage accounts). It started about two months ago (I didn't realize the downloads were failing until about a month ago). All updates report: "An Internet communication error occurred. Please try your call again later. (OFXIE12029) I've searched the group for this error with only references talking about firewalls and antivirus software. I'm running WinXP Pro SP2 and I've made sure that the firewall & antivirus are disabled before I establish the communication. I've even used a network monitor to make sure the requests are being sent from my desktop. All other downloads work (cards, checking accounts, MSN Billpay, Money updates, etc). Ideas? -AC |
