| For tax purposes, the share price is irrelevant: amount invested (to determine basis) and number of shares (to deal with sales, splits, etc.) matter more. Let Money calculate the price and ignore what Vanguard reports. -- Michael Gordon MVP "F3User" <F3User[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:16FAAD86-D75B-4C1F-A3C0-3D6CBFF34F0B[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, F3User wrote: > > > > I just installed 2005. You could try setting up a new XP user with administrative access.> which is what I want it to do... As that user, set up a new Money file with no Passport (Decline). See if you can set that up for Vanguard direct access. If that works, then you can try different settings on your IE6 normal user. |

I don't think Vanguard tracks holdings to anything smaller than .001> Furthermore, if you divide $100 by yesterdays close price of 108.78, you find > that I actually bought .919287 shares. Furthermore, if you divide $100 by yesterdays close price of 108.78, you find that I actually bought .919287 shares. The problem is which data point do you pick for the calculation, share price or share amount. Money is using the share amount reported by Vanguard (incorrectly as .919) and then getting the wrong share price. |

| I just installed 2005. I was unable to download the ofx file from Vanguard's site into Money, but I was able to give Money my login info and have it connect to Vanguard and pull the data in automatically by just hitting the update button. One small annoyance is that the share purchase price reported by Money after updating is slightly different than the share price shown on Vanguard's site. For example, I have Vanguard automatically take $100 from my checking account twice a month and purchase shares of the 500 index fund. Vanguard reported last night that I bought .919 shares at $108.78 (yesterday's closing price). But Money says I bought the share at $108.814. You see Money is taking the purchase price of $100 and dividing by the share amount reported by Vanguard (.919) and getting $108.814. Not a huge difference, but annoying. There should not be a problem with the certificate. The purpose of this is to see if there might be a routing, DNS, certificate, etc problem, and is not anything like a complete test. If you don't get the expected message, that could be telling tho. |

| The new version has corrected a lot of the problems I was having, however, it didn't fix them all. One main issue I'm still having is that I can not sync automatically with Vanguard. I proceed through account setup, but it fails. I have deleted my Vanguard account from Money and re-added it from scratch to no avail. The Call Summary Message I get is: Microsoft Money could not receive information from your bank or brokerage. Please set up this account again (which I've done over and over. Money was unable to complete the operation. The internet, banking, or brokerage server you were trying to contact encountered an error. Please try your call again later. (OFXHTTP500)). I know some other folks were having a similar issue. I can log into Vanguard manually just fine. Thanks in advance for any help! |
