| Just temporarily, disable the firewall completely to confirm its not the issue. Seems odd a firewall would cause this. Also, do you have a backup file from the prior time that using Money did work ok? (in other words, I have mine set up that every time I exit the program it creates a compressed backup file on the same disk. SO at some point you used Money successfully, and when you exited, if you set it up this way, it made a backup before it updated the file. From that point on you couldn't get in to Money. See if the backup works if you have one). | Greetings All ! I work with my Money 2004 about once every two weeks. Well, recently, when I try to start Money / open my datafile, it won't accept my username and password combo.... even if I tell it I won't be needing Passport's online features. This is ridiculous, because I KNOW I'm using the right username and password. I triple-checked this on MSN. Now, to add a complication, I then thought... perhaps the reason this is happening has something to do with the fact that I shut down the email account associated with my passport sign-on several months ago. So I logged into my Passport account and changed the email address (username) associated with my Passport account. OK, fine. My understanding is, this should NOT affect my attempt to open my existing Money 2004 datafile, as long as I choose the option NOT to use Passport's features at start-up. Well, still, I cannot get into the file. I tried deleting cookies and all offline content. No change. Next, I decided to try to REPAIR the datafile. Now, here's the funny thing. When you're asked to repair the datafile, Money asks you for your username and password combo again. The first time, I typoed it and got an error message. But the second time, I typed it correctly. And I was then able to do a repair on the file !! The repair log basically said that there were ZERO problems with the original file! But this PROVES (to me at least) that I am typing in the correct information! The only thing I can possibly think of that I'm doing differently... is that I installed Sygate Personal Firewall. I've checked its logs and I don't THINK I'm seeing any communication from Money when I try to log in without passport. Can anybody give me any recommendations on anything else to try ?
