| Brox, When you use MSN Bill Pay the money comes out when the check clears your bank. In all other cases it will depend on your FI's bill pay policy. I don't use Fifth Third, but I would suspect they, like many others, take the money out of your account on the day you specify. | My problem is more with the scheduled bills and deposits screen - it is telling me that an "electronic payment must be sent within x days". That statement is misleading - with MSN Bill Pay, it was accurate in telling me that I had x days to send off a payment in order for it to be received by the due date. With Fifth Third, that x days IS the due date of the bill, which does not give any lead time to actually get the payment to them! I hope I'm being clear here....anyways, I can simply follow your advice and move back a week, but I wish the scheduled bills and deposits screen would have the correct lead time for electronic payments. Maybe my only solution is to actually bump back the due dates on bills back a week - but that just isn't the way I had to do it with MSN Bill Pay. Ack! -Tod |

| Hopefully, I understand your comment. I also use 5/3 for bill pay and I simply schedule the payment with the bank to be made a week before the due date. I haven't had any problems with the payments not getting to the payee by the due date. | Ok - I've searched and searched for this answer - no avail. I used MS Bill Pay service for months and it would schedule my payments with a due date that would ensure payment was RECEIVED on the date I declared. I dropped MS Bill Pay when I switched to Fifth Third (www.53.com) bank - they support direct downloads of statements, and free bill pay. Now when I schedule a payment, the date has now become the day that my bank will process the payment and get it sent to the party - which could be received up to 5+ days later! Ack! Is there somewhere where I can modify this date lead time, to ensure payment is received on time? Thank for the info! |
