| You can use Money 2005 without using a Passport but it still accesses the internet. This is annoying when you have a 56k dialup connection. There should be an option to permanently turn off stock quotes, MSN alerts, etc., but I haven't found one. No one has responded to my newsgroup messages, so I guess I'm not alone. I use it without Passport and without MSN Billpay. I use my banks billpay feature. The only 'problem' I have is that Money doesn't download the epay transaction/confirmation number from my bank, it always displays 'Epay' instead of a number. This seems minor but when you need to track a transaction it is nice to have a reference. My bank [Wachovia] assigns a confirmation number to each epay, but Money doesn't allow you to modify the 'Num' field of an epay. As an aside, I changed from MS Money back to Quicken back when it looked like Microsoft was going to be able to buy Intuit. I changed back to MS Money 2004 a few months ago when I gave up on resolving an issue with Intuit [TurboTax]. Intuit has no intention of worrying about their customers' problems, they turn off their phones at a time when they are most likely to have problems or questions, i.e.. 'tax time' I will stay with Money in spite of the problems of the latest version. I have confidence that Microsoft is paying attention to the issues in this newsgroup. I don't know how the Check Free works.> Passport to my Money file, and without having to sign up at the MSN bill > pay site or the MSN Money site? Money 2005 does most of help via online access. So blocking accesswith a firewall would make Help incomplete. Plus there is a very important updated that needs to be downloaded initially. You don't want quotes? - quote - > and I
That is easy; don't put a Passport on the file.> adamantly don't want to be able to "access" my Money information while I'm > "traveling" as the marketing materials say. - quote - > Thanks for any assistance on this. |

| Is it possible to upgrade from Money 2003 to Money 2005 without linking my Passport to my Money file, and without having to sign up at the MSN bill pay site or the MSN Money site? I send electronic bill payments directly from the Money program (using what was originally called Checkfree, and then was called Money Bill Pay, and at the time, Money Bill Pay was distinct from the MSN Bill Pay service/web site). I don't want the Money program to have ANY links to any online sites, and I adamantly don't want to be able to "access" my Money information while I'm "traveling" as the marketing materials say. Thanks for any assistance on this. David Walker |
