Well, I guess I will have to upgrade to avoid any issues. Though, I am
going to hang on to MS 2004 until one of bank downloads stop working.

I just hate it when I am forced to upgrade when the upgraded s/w does not
provide any value. I guess this 'subscription based' services will be
abused by many.

I want to add one other potential issue:

- As the version in use becomes further back-level, the odds that an OS or
other upgrade irretrievably breaks it increase. Your copy of M04 may not
work on Windows2012 (or with IE 7, for that matter).

If you have '04 Deluxe, you have no problems. If you have '04 Standard,
stock price updates may have expired. I don't recall if that was a 1 year or
a 2 year subscription in the license. Deluxe was a 3 year subscription. ('05
Deluxe is 2 year.) Nothing else is lost, to my knowledge.

Known issues:
- Support for older versions ends sooner, including such services as quotes
download.
- Older versions will get "unsupported" sooner by FIs and so forth.
- Newly discovered issues will not get fixed. Not that they did when the
version was still current.

Potential issues:
- If an upgrade comes out that is compelling--the odds on this do not look
good to me unless something radically changes in how Microsoft views the
product and the market--data upgrades may be more problematic depending on
how far back-level your data is.
- The "learning curve" for such an upgrade grows as a function of the number
of versions you are jumping.

I'll be interested to see what others come in with.

Default Not upgrading to MS$ 2005 Cause issue later?

Since MS Money 2005 does not seem to provide any new functionality or
significant enhancements I am thinking of not updating my MS Money 2004
version. If I donot update now would I run into any issues (functionally,
technically, contractual or anything else) with the future versions?
