Default Re: Problem Restoring Money 2005 SB back up after new installation

I had the same exact problem for a while. Finally I opened a new temp blank
file and saved it to my desktop. Then I let Money upgrade itself. Restart
money, and open up my original file now that money is updated and it worked
fine. Stupid microsoft should upgrade before opening any files. You can then
delete the temp file.

Write-protect those floppies with the little slider now. Consider
copying their contents to a hard drive so you have an extra copy.

Before restore, check that your Help-> About version is 14.0.*.1105.

Rather than trying to restore to the default location, browse into
your "My Documents" folder as the place to restore to. Perhaps
select a different name for your Money file also, if that existing
name exists in that folder.

Default Problem Restoring Money 2005 SB back up after new installation

this is a new file in 05, not an upgrade. i had to take it off my computer
this weekend & backed up to floppy b4 i did. when i reinstalled 05 & went to
restore my back up i get this message:

"money cannot locate"file location" or cannot open it, possibly because it
is a read-only file or you do not have permission to change it or your disk
drive is write protected.
if you have chosen the correct file & it cannot be accessed, you will need
to click OK and open your most recent backup file.
if the file is being used by another application, close it in the other
application and click OK to try again"

i've checked & its not read only, i have permission & its not write
protected. i tried copying it to my documents & still get the same msg.
when i click on 'more info' it brings me to a site that says there's not info
available. that helps.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanx!
