| Hi Dick, I just tried that as I was waiting for your response and it worked. Wow, never realized that you could do that. Just for grins, does everybody see this behavior or is it my machine where I am unable to see the option for transfer, but it works fine when I type it out. This only happens in the loan transactions. thanks again. I am all set now. | Hi Dick, My money file is also setup with advanced evertyhing. I have a mortgage account that is linked to an asset account (Home). I have a recurring bill with "write a check" for my mortgage payment. I have setup all account and interest details in money. So money computes the splits for my mortgage accounts. SO I usually have four splits: principle: computes interest: computes insurance: fixed amount real estate taxes; fixed amount this works really well. But my problem is that insurance and real estate taxes are really sent into an escrow account and I would like to trak my balance accordingly. To do this I have created a cash account and I am trying to setup a transfer to the cash account. Money does not provide the option to transfer to any account from the category drop down in this case. I really cannot understand because it let's me do this in all other splits. The only really transfer options available are for "credit card payments". THis is very strage that they would put in such an explicit limitation. Hope my scenario is clearer. thanks "Dick Watson" <littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com> wrote in message news:OF9h4P90EHA.1296[at]TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... - quote - > FWIW, I just tested this in a M05 test environment and found no problems > setting this up. | No, It is not epay. I am just using "write a check" mode. When I setup my mortgage payment, I do not see any "transfer: accounts" listed in the categories drop down. The only ones that I see are for "credit Card Paymets: account". This is really strage since I can use the transfer in every other scenario except my loan payment. Is this problem specific to me or can other folks perform a trasfer to a cash account in the same split transaction where money automatically calculates the loan principle and interest calculations. thanks "Dick Watson" <littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com> wrote in message news:e7EAUV30EHA.1524[at]TK2MSFTNGP09.phx.gbl... - quote - > Is it Epay? | FWIW, I just tested this in a M05 test environment and found no problems setting this up. Please be more specific how you were attempting this and why you could not get it to work. My testcase involved a Money file using Advanced everything. <pr> wrote in message news:eFqTO410EHA.3908[at]TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... - quote - > I cannot get money to setup a transfer to a cash account from the > mortgage payment. |

| Hi, I cannot get money to setup a transfer to a cash account from the mortgage payment. thanks "Dick Watson" <littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com> wrote in message news:eZTPif9zEHA.804[at]TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... - quote - > See, even I don't know what's in the FAQ. > "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message > news:t791q0h1cieurq1h1envgo9o55d075nn7l[at]4ax.com... > > In microsoft.public.money, Dick Watson wrote: > > > > > > > > I think it's time to make the interest only and extra principal questions > > > into FAQ entries. > > > http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=160 is interest-only. > |

| See, even I don't know what's in the FAQ. | Additional principal and escrow are not really part of setting up the loan, they are part of setting up the scheduled loan payments and/or entering them. The interest only part is setup by setting the balloon amount to the loan amount when setting up the loan. The ARM part is setup when it asks about that in the dialog for setting up a loan account that is a mortgage. To setup extra principal, add a "Principal Transfer" split element to the scheduled loan payment in the amount of extra principal. Escrow is handled similarly as described at http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=94. In the loan setup wizard, at some point it asks if you have other fees to setup. This is one place you can do it, but that assumes you already have the escrow cash account setup. You can also do it afterwards like editing any other scheduled loan payment. BTW, what's the rationale behind an interest only loan with extra principal payments? I struggle to understand the rationale for interest only loans as it is. I think it's time to make the interest only and extra principal questions into FAQ entries. | In MM2005 - I have one of those new Inerest Only mortgage's. I am having great difficulty in getting MM2005 to set up this type of mortgage that would allow for: ARM adjustments; additional payment to principle; interest and escrow separation? Any suggestions, ideas or comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |
