| I've had the same problem when converting a file from M2004 Delux to M2005 Deluxe. It seemed to be a problem when the Money 2005 homepage is loaded, because at one try I was able to bypass the homepage after the conversion and go directly to an account. That worked, however as soon as I went back to the Money homepage, it froze. Oh well, I was able to return it to the store and get a full refund. Bernhard P.S.: I remember someone mentioning that he has luck with converting a M2004 Deluxe file to M2005 Standard(!). Perhaps that might work as an intermediate step to then load the M2005 Standard file into M2005 Deluxe. Jonathan wrote: - quote - > I have a feeling that this is not my problem. | I have a feeling that this is not my problem. The 100% cpu problem happend in both win 98 SE and Win XP. Jonathan. | I had the same problem with M04, and suspected Win XP's SP2 was somehow involved. I narrowed it down to a process in the Task Manager > Processes list named rundll32.exe. I couldn't figure out what was causing that executable to run. It bugged me for a while, then I read about something that I tried: updated several system drivers, listed variously on laptop manufacturer's website (ibm) as 'made compliant with Win XP SP2' (or something similar), the problem went away. | I can't find this. I see Investments, planner, currencies, bills and deposits, categories, print checks, next line is general, feedback, backup, online services, connection, editing. I have Money 2004 deluxe version 12.0 update 1 If the same results can be gotten by disabling passport, I tried this per instructions from tech support. | It's possible it might be related Money 2005 trying to do an initial sync with the data on the server. Since you are now using Money 2004, go ahead and disable sync (Tools - Options - Disable Web Access), be sure to choose the option to "permanently remove data from the server". After it's finished then install Money 2005 (or if it is already installed confirm that it's been updated to the 1105 version in Help - About). Then try upgrading that file to Money 2005. Then you can enable sync again (Tools - Settings - Access Money on the Web) -Mark "Jonathan" <liljonny[at]comcast.net> wrote in message news:0vc7q0doshuq8ltgc3k69rit6u0spllqsb[at]4ax.com... - quote - > This is only the converted file. | This is only the converted file. I even got the same results when converting a m10 file witch is a back up of Money 2002 I think I also got the same results with a m11 file. The sample file works ok and so does a new file that I exported qif files from Money 2004 and imported into Money 2005. I have a dual boot system. Money 2004 is on Win 98 SE with all updates. Money 2005 is on Win XP home with SP2. cpu is AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1500+ 768MB RAM chip set VIA Had to put Money 2005 on Win XP because the combination of AMD cpu and VIA chip set was causing blue screen when going to portfolio manager in Win 98 with the file that was imported. I am only using Money 2004 now. The imported file does not import stock splits and several mergers and/or spin offs would have to be removed and re entered. | Is it file specific? If you open the Sample.mny file (or create a new file) does 2005behave the same way? If it behaves this way regardless of which file is used, then tell us more about your computer: cpu, ram, other running applications, version of Windows/IE, etc. -Mark "Jonathan" <liljonny[at]comcast.net> wrote in message news:i5t4q053pgq2svost8mf5d58gqqq6j39cv[at]4ax.com... - quote - > I did a standard repair of my money 2004 file, with Money 2004, then a > quick repair. | I have this problem with my converted Money 2004 file from the minute the file is opened. It never stops the 100% CPU usage and ctrl alt delete shows money as not responding. Tried a new file with the accounts exported from Money 2004 and imported into Money 2005 and don't have this problem, but importing does not import stock splits. several splits have to have spin offs and /or mergers removed before doing the split and then re entered after doing the split. | CPU usage 100% and hangs so long when moving within and entering data. Takes so long to get anything done. I have read past posts on this subject. The issue appears to be the size of the data file. Smaller is better. How can I reduce the size of my large file. Past discussions and past experience prove that archiving is not a solution. Neither is starting a new file. I now use M2005 and have upgraded numerous times. Discussion please. |
