Perhaps you would prefer a simple "no" as opposed to people trying> back it up again the next time I open and close money without having to > format or erase the previous file on the disk. You also could use a USB flash drive that holds over twice as much as a backup file requires, but I guess that does not address your question either. - quote - > "Bob" wrote: > > In 2004 I couls backup to a floppy each time and the new file would overwrite > > the old file. | Maybe I explained it wrong. Once I save a back up on a floppy I would like to back it up again the next time I open and close money without having to format or erase the previous file on the disk. In other words I would like the new file to overwrite the old one. I did this all of the time in Money 2004. | His point is to have several sets of floppies. Of course, this does not avoid the problem as you will still, sooner or later, have to delete the files on the floppies before using them to do a backup, unless you never reuse them. I think Bob was trying to suggest a way where you ALWAYS had a good backup, even in the midst of doing another. This is a VERY IMPORTANT recommendation. In addition, you should have backups on different media and stored in different locations. You should also test your backups to assure they are. Finally, make copies of the .MNY files where possible as the Money backups occasionally can't be restored even if the original file can be opened. | Not within Money. You need to format the floppy first. However I suggest you don't format the floppy with the current backup but rather cycle around. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | In 2004 I couls backup to a floppy each time and the new file would overwrite the old file. In 2005 this does not happen. It keeps the old file and writes a new on asking for another disk. Is there any way I can fix this so it will backup like 2004? Any help appreciated. |
